What're your favourite quotes from history? Here's a few of mine: (Most from Churchill).

''They have sowed the wind and, now, they shall reap the whirlwind.'' Sir Arthur ''Bomber'' Harris.

''History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.'' Sir Winston Churchill.

''If Hitler invaded Hell I would at least make a favourable reference to the devil...'' Sir Winston Churchill.

''Nothing in life is so exhilarating than to be shot at without result.'' Sir Winston Churchill.

''Can we all stop talking about this Hitler business for one second? I'm trying to enjoy my plum pudding.'' Sir Winston Churchill.

"Makes you proud to be British." - Winston Churchill.  If I posted the context, this post would be moderated into oblivion.  Feel free to look it up.

The one in my sig.

For those unable to view sigs, the quote is: "war does not determine who is right, only who is left" - Bertrand Russell.

War does not determine who is right, only who is left - Bertrand Russell

I write things, things which can be found in Historical Discussions. Things like this article on the Soviet invasion of Manchuria in 1945 and this article on the Spanish Civil War.

And now we are actually at, not just close to, the line beyond which nothing further can be said on a forum that children might browse.  :D

Interesting quote, given the size and expense involved he probably thought there where only 5 countries/companies in the world who could afford one... lol

Not actually a quote by a real person, but this made me laugh, guess where its from:

''Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is the war room!'' :teethhappy:

"We have been looking for the enemy for some time now. We've finally found him. We're surrounded. That simplifies things. He won't get away this time."

-Then Colonel Lewis "Chesty" Puller, USMC.

"I have not yet begun to fight."

- Captain John Paul Jones

"Retreat hell! We're attacking in another direction."

- Major General O.P. Smith, USMC. (Quote was embellished but this is the famous version.)

Buckle up. I'm going to try something. I saw it on a cartoon once... but I'm almost positive it can be done.

"Very well then. We'll give them a show."

- Lt. Colonel Douglas Drysdale, Royal Marine Commandos (when asked to press on at all cost to Hagaru-Ri, N.K. in the face of overwhelming resistance.)

"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives…
You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side here in this country of ours…
You, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace, after having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well."
-Mustafa Kamal Ataturk, memorial to the Anzacs that died at Gallipolli (attacking his country.)

Buckle up. I'm going to try something. I saw it on a cartoon once... but I'm almost positive it can be done.
