Equipment:

First of all, there's no 100% right answer. There are three main popular builds, and a couple of variations. What you choose goes to playstyle.

Gun Rammer - mandatory. Actually, there is a right answer. always use a rammer

Improved Ventilation - one of your best options

Vertical Stabilizer - perfect for shooting while moving and long aim times

Coated Optics - If you're in a medium, your job includes spotting. You'll be moving a lot because that's how you stay alive

The most popular builds- aggressive (rammer/stabilizer/vents), scout (rammer/stabilizer/optics), sniper (rammer/vents/optics)

Other options

Binocs - Some people use binocs on mediums to save on gold costs for dismounting. This is awful on soviet tanks because they're set up for closer engagements and mobility. You should never be still enough to make this useful

Improved GLD - tanks before tier 8 cannot mount a stabilizer. This is an option, and is especially good on howitzers (though those are rare) and aim times about 2.3. This is mandatory on the A-44

Consumables:

!SWITCH ALL PREMIUM CONSUMABLE PRICES TO SILVER BY HITTING THE Y BUTTON!

Carry enough premium ammunition, at the least, to knock out your own tank.

Up to tier 7, you really don't need more than a couple of HE rounds, maybe 3-4. At tier 8-10 your HE rounds are useless. MOAR AP

Always carry a fire extinguisher, automatic ones are generally worth it at high tier. YOU HAVE FRONTALLY-MOUNTED FUEL TANKS. Tanks with rear-mounted turrets also take engine hits from frontal pens.

Med packs and Repair kits are mandatory for all tanks.

Rations are good, expensive, but RNG has a sense of irony. Not using an extinguisher is the game you get set on fire.

Crew Skills:

If you have a decent supply of gold, always train a crew skill and then retrain into the perk you want. That way you get the skill's effect while leveling it (perks have no effect until 100%)

The exception for the fire extinguisher applies to firefighting skills. Those tanks don't need them.

Start with any order of Sixth Sense + Brothers in Arms + Repairs. These are the "big three" of best skills and mediums use them well.

Perks -

Safe Stowage. Low priority skill. Generally it's the engine and fuel lines that give you problems

Designated Target. Keeps enemies in sight longer for when you spot. Kinda meh, but useful.

Deadeye. Debatable at tier 9-10, generally alright there. Good on the T-34 with the 57mm

Track mechanic. Around 7-8 skills in you can look at this. Always a benefit, but you want soooo many other things

Skills - First of all, you're a medium, there are A TON of skills that work

Firefighting. If you're slow on hitting the 'stop burning to death button' generally not worth it.

Pain Tolerance. Works very, very, VERY well for mediums. Especially considering close-quarters means accidental rams, and that can hurt the crew

Clutch Braking. Improved turn rate, great for brawling

Recon. Better spotting, sit-aware is better

Off-road Driving. More mobility in the mud, see Clutch Braking. Especially good when on the T-54

Situational Awareness. More view range. Pair with Recon for best boost

Armorer/Snap Shot/Smooth Ride. Like supercharging your stabilizer (only use with one). Better at high tier, where you put your turret armor to work excessively

Well thank u, I FINALLY have decided to make the slow march up the T-34-88 to the T-43 then the better T-44 and so on, I always Run Vents so I ALWAYS Run BIA+REPAIRS+6th SENSE or Snapshot. Only have 1 Decent Soviet Crew with 2 Perks but I just like their Mediums.
