I know, I know, the Russians are probably the biggest tree in the game, and also probably one of the most played. The funny thing is though, they have a surprisingly small amount of low tier premiums (excluding rare ones). We have currently:

Tier II- Nothing (apart from the Tetrarch, which is rare than hen's teeth).

Tier III- Nothing (apart from T-127 and M3 Light, same thing here).

Tier IV- Valentine II- its terrible really.

Tier V- Churchill II, Matilda IV, SU-85i, and KV-220 (we don't really need any more past tier IV).

I've done a thread on more premium tanks before, but there'll be more focus on the Russians here.

So here's a few ideas:

Tier II- English Workman

In 1930 the Soviets set up a purchasing commission, and bought a bunch of tanks, mainly from Britain, including Vickers 6 Tonners, Carden Loyd Tankettes and Vickers Medium Mk. IIs. The Medium Mk. II was known to the Russians as the 'English Workman'. There were a few detail changes to help the tank cope with the Russian climate, but other than that it was pretty much standard. In game the gun would be the standard 3 Pounder. Performance would be much like the regular British Medium Mk. II, but since that isn't exactly legendary for its ability, I'd give the Russian version a few buffs here and there to make better, maybe some more engine power, better gun handling, or traverse speed, that kind of thing.

Spoiler

Tier II- T-38M

A variant of the Soviet T-37/8 series of amphibious tanks, this was one mounting a 20mm gun. It looks to be the same weapon as seen on things like the BT-2, and it has a very low profile. Speed looks to be quite good, but armour is 9mm maximum, so I'd give it quite a bit of speed and mobility as compensation for that. There doesn't seem to be a picture of one, but it looks like this with a 20mm cannon.

Spoiler

Tier III- T-24

This I've talked about before. Its a medium tank, armed with the 45mm as seen on most low tier Russian tanks, and intended as a possible replacement for the MS series. My reference book describes it as being ''very well armed and armoured'', so it could be quite good. The only downside I see is probably slow speeds and bad handling. That, and it is direly hideous.

Spoiler

Tier IV- T-35 Heavy Tank

This is a kind of ''land-battleship'' tank, fielded by the Russians and seeing some service in Finland and the early days of Barbarossa. The T-35 was multi-turreted, with the main turret mounting the 76mm KT-28, and two of the smaller turrets mounting the 45mm, and another two turrets with MGs. The model for this tank has existed for a while in the PC archives, but it was never implemented and there doesn't seem a place for it on the tech tree, so I'll put it as a tier IV premium.

Spoiler

Tier V- KV-1B

I know we don't really need any more tier Vs, but this looked interesting. What this is is a KV-1, with the standard shorter barrelled 76.2mm gun, with 25-30mm of extra armour bolted onto the hull front and turret sides. What it would lack in firepower it would make up for in armour. This would be a kind of tech tree alternative to the KV-220.

Nice, the KV-1B would be an interesting tank to see (stronger side armour than frontal)! However, I'd prefer the T-35 to be a tech tree vehicle as part of a mult turreted sub line.

I'm all for the T35 and KV-1b, but I don't remember the name of the tank but during the battle of Kursk there was a light tank variant of the T-34, I want to say it was called the T-33 or something. I don't know I saw it on a episode of a show on the military channel called "Greatest Tank Battles". It looked exactly like a stock T-34 only smaller, less armored obviously, and much faster, it was used during the battle of Kursk to spot for artillery and stationary tank destroyer guns as well as flank enemy tanks occupied with T-34 divisions though many of them were lost during the battle especially to Tiger tanks.

I'm not sure the Russian lines really need any more premiums.  However, I agree something in the tier 2/3 area would be welcome.  The BT-7A they just introduced on PC is probably the most likely candidate.  The T-38 does look like a fun option as well.  A third option would be to make the M3 Light a tech tree premium and keep the T-127 as the rare.

If you want to be one of the 47 Ronin check out our recruitment post and then send a message to Prof935 (xbox) or dimka935 (ps4).

I'd also like to see the only IS tank we don't have become available whether it's premium or tech tree standard the IS-5. I'd also like to see a expirimental tank Russia developed during the Cold War come to life, the Super Troyanov what I gather it's an open air heavy tank on par with the IS series of the Cold War designed to dominate NATO armor but wasn't developed. It is featured in the PC game "Code name Panzers Cold War".

Ah, yes, actually we do need a tier VI, so the 100Y should be able to fill that gap well.

I've seen that before, wasn't that the nuclear warfare resistant tank?

Apparently in update 9.8 the IS-5 will arrive as a tier 8 premium and according to its description much much better than the IS-6. It apparently has APCR rounds as default ammo giving it 221mm of armor penetration and is capable of going head to head with tier 9s. This appears to be PC only so far as I can tell at the moment.

Or it could be the T-70 or T-37?

The wiki site about it says so. Just look for super Troyanov super heavy tank in the search bar and you should find the site I got that picture from.

Honestly I don't know, I just typed in the search bar IS-5 tank and looked at the bottom link.

I would still like a captured KV 1 or 2 as a german premium.

Yeah the IS-5 is a clan war reward bummer... So Xbox probably won't get it ever.

Yeah, those would be good too, but I'd probably put them in as dual nation crew trainer tanks.

I knew you'd fit a British tank in there.

Nothing on top but a bucket and a mop, and an illustrated book about birds.

I was thinking that too but I'm not sure if there's much point considering the Russians already get those tanks. The Germans used the KV-2's they captured for artillery observation so I was thinking of giving it a worse gun but better view range and an updated german radio.

If anymore cross country tanks should be added we should get a special Sherman Firefly for US/British use and a cross country tank for France, China, and Japan.
