Do I have to do all 100 battles in a 14 day span or does it go back, if it took three months to play 100 battles in a tank, is my average for that compared to the average from the last 14 days for everyone else?

The way I interpret this is that my performance in a particular vehicle is not being compared the community that plays that particular vehicle, but to the single best performers' average In said vehicle.

ie.  I'm not doing better in a tank than say, 79.4% of all the people that play it, but I'm doing 79.4% as well as the single best guy/girl that drives it.

 Is this correct?

That what it seems to be portrayed as. Basically, either they don't know, or have a flawed system and now have confused us even more.

There is no 100 battle requirement.

I wouldn't call it flawed.  It is an ingenious way to build a performance measure without having to store gobs of extra data and which rewards recently improved performance more readily than a simple average.  They just need to work on the description to be a bit more precise and informative and leaves the reader with the correct understanding.  It's getting there.

If I weren't a math geek at heart I would probably be very confused right now.  However, I can see from the responses that people are slowly getting a better picture of how it works, so we're moving in the right direction.

But i thought the game used your average from your last 100 battles.  Ie if you drop a couple of turds you just need to play consistently for a good time period to get the average back up.

N00bs is right. You say global average in the explanation, but then say a percentage of the best player in that period. Which is it?

I'm glad someone understood what I was getting at.

What if the top player is a major outlier, like so insanely good that it inflates the percentages for everyone? It would be a bizarre way to determine how one compares to 65, 85, or 95% of players. You wouldn't be compared to all players but rather to a single player.

Is there a way WG can implement the % stat before you get MoE class I?

Ok... so question...

I played a tank 6 months ago and sold it.    The current 14 day player base average is say 5,000.    I buy the tank back and play 2 games, first with 5,000 damage and the second with 5200 for a combined of 5100 on my new 14 day period.   I should get 3 marks immediately after completing that second game, is that correct?

No, because as Max mentioned, it uses an Exponential Moving Average rather than a straight up average of your games. (Remember that formula I posted that made everyone's brain hurt, that was EMA). Your EMA would be lower than 5100 until you'd played a number of games.

So the real question is how many games before the EMA would catch up to the current average.

If one game played is the minimum to qualify, but it's impossible to get a mark off of just one single great game compared to the last 14 days of averages, how does that work out?

Let’s say the top damage + assist damage for the IS-6 per match is 7000 points of damage.  To get the first mark, you need higher than 65% of that, which is 4500.  85% is 5950 and 95% is 6650.  Remember it’s the average of damage dealt + assist damage!

To earn the first of three marks for a specific tank, you'll have to break into the top 35% of players using it; for the second and third tiers you'll need to rank in the top 15% and 5% respectively.

Either the example and the description is incorrect. Higher than 65% of the top player's average is not the same as in the top 35% of players using it.

So the very best IS-6 player in the universe's average is used to calculate 65%, 85%, and 95%? Weird.

Yeah, it could be that you have to do 65% 85% or 95% of the average damage/assisted damage of the best player. Or it could be you have to do more than 65% 85% or 95% damage/assisted damage or the player base using that tank?

Either way, think I'll give up trying for new MoE until they bring out the % number until the First MoE. Gives me a few tanks to work on until then.
