mentor only gives you more experience.

Choose mentor as your first skill/perk and forget you have it. Make sure your tank has vents and do things like putting your crew into a premium tank every day to make the most of the premium and x2 xp bonuses, and going for all the operations which give xp bonuses. I usually get rid of mentor once i have 5 or 6 skills, because by then i am more or less in the position to create the 'perfect' skill set for most tanks, but it if you go on to grind 9 skills for a crew, mentor will have earned you an extra one with its bonuses

Brother in Arms will boost all crew skills a bit so get that as your second skill/perk to make the most of the mentor bonus. If you have gold, you might want to train a useful skill as your second skill/perk and swap this to BIA which is a perk so doesnt do anything until it's 100%

Thanks for clearing that up i thought that but wasnt certtain

I usually train Repairs or Camo first, then swap to 6th Sense. Retrain Repairs/Camo and swap in BIA. Retrain Repairs/Camo a third time, and then train Mentor at the 4th position. The first 4 skills train pretty quickly, and I like to have those keystone skills on a crew. From 5th on I really feel the benefits of Mentor...

So you can swap a current perk or skill that has reached 100% to something else and not lose the time spent to get it maxed?  So you should always max a skill not a perk so that at least you get partial benefit before swapping to a perk.   Ugh, I picked 6th sense and almost half way.  Am I understanding that right?   I'm only 3 weeks into this game so still have allot to learn.  Thanks you for the info.

How does silent driving work with light tanks?Since they already have no camo penalty for moving, is there a benefit for using this perk, or is it redundant?

Redundant for scout tanks with that ability.

I'd say no. Your auto extinguisher is instant so the perk won't help. And yes it happens but how often do you get set on fire twice in the same match? I rarely do so I wouldn't say it's worth the perk slot just in case you might get set on fire twice. I'd vote for something else

Meaning all light tanks of tier V and above, correct?

Seeing this thread reminded me of a question I had:

What does "The skill is more effective when combined with" mean exactly? Does it mean that there is an additional boost provided when the equipment is present (like an extra 1%) or is this just a recommendation of what else you can combine the skill with to maximize impact in an area (such as repair speed).

The second part. They are things that target the same area.

Thanks for the info. Is this correct? Wasn't there a 3 second delay before? Thanks!

It is correct. The PC is the one that has a 3 second delay and works completely different.

Max,  how does Mentor and BIA work?  If you earn 1000 xp in a battle (forget any other multipliers), I assume you get an extra 100 xp for mentor (10% of 1000).  But BIA gives an additional 5% to crew skills, including mentor.  How is this applied?  Is it combined to the base percentage (meaning it could either be 1000x1.1x1.05=1155 xp or 1000x(1.1+1.05)=1150 xp) or is it simply an additional 5% of the mentor xp earned or 1000x1.1+0.05(.1)(1000)=1105xp?

Mentor gives 10% so 1000 XP would mean you get 1100 Crew XP.

BIA increases the training level of the crew by 5%, since you earn 0.01% bonus XP per crew training level, BIA would increase Mentor by 0.05%. So with both it would be 1000 XP * 1.105 = 1105 Crew XP.

Thanks.  Should I assume (forgot to ask initially) that food and vents work the same?  Extra 0.05% for vents and 0.1% for food?

Silent driving is a 50% camo boost to moving TDs and mediums?  Borsigs, Hellcats, 140's and Batchats need this?  Sounds like a perk that needs nerfed.  Light tankers, grab your pitchforks and torches !

My question about perks/skills.

When going to perks/skills page, on the left the first symbol represents all crew. Then down on d pad for individual crew members. So when selecting any of the perks/skills does it matter if I do it on all, or should I be going to individuals and selecting one for them?

The other thing is you say 25 perks/skills can be selected, yet under crew I only see 15 boxes that can be filled.

I have never seen individual crew members so I don't really know. Aren't those filters for tank class/nations?

On the console version there are no crew members. So when you select the perk the entire crew sorta gets it anyway (although I believe it actually goes to the commander).

As for the boxes: When you get more than 15 skills the perks become like a "scrolling motion". You can get up to 25, but there is no room to show them all at once.

Go to crew skills and the first thing you do is down on d pad it does go to individual crew members.
