Not necessarily. One of the rules is to keep it civil.

I'll have you know that I am entirely capable of being civil when civility is demanded of me, good sir!

I just choose not to be civil if it isn't demanded of me because I find it more fun.

Well it is demanded of you here and I trust you shall keep to that demand (my right honourable friend ).

No fair, Uran is going to be 37-0 by the end of this

If that's what we're doing, it should be an interesting debate to say the least. Anyhow, 37-0 is oddly specific isn't it?

The first debate will be between Crazedtiger and Uranprojekt, commencing on Friday night and ending on Sunday night, if there are no objections?

I shall adhere to the rules set forth, товарищ. (If anybody is curious, "товарищ" is pronounced "tovarishch" (toe-va-rish). I always knew that learning Russian and Ukrainian would come in handy.)

Whilst I'm here, I have a question. I assume that the debates will be held in this thread which begs the question, will people not scheduled to debate be allowed to offer their opinions on the points raised by the participants? For instance, could Matthew offer his opinions on a point that Crazedtiger or myself make during a debate?

No problem for me. Do we find out the subject beforehand?

So long as no contribution is made either way, comments should be fine, but they shouldn't take the form of an argument in favour either way, just a voice of agreement or disagreement. Also, there'll be a new thread for each debate, and there'll be included a poll at the end of the debate for people to vote on who was most persuasive in their argument. If we staged all the debates in one thread it'll be a bit hard to keep track of.

Yes, I'll announce that soon.

Also, would you like some way of deciding who argues which way? So, perhaps the first person to reply after the announcement of the topic can choose whether they argue in favour or against? Or do you just want me to choose?

You should choose. It should be random, but we'd have to trust that you were doing it randomly.

I would say that it's probably better if you decide, keeps things fair.

Okay, I'll use a random generator. If I can find one. If I can't I'll just choose one.

Random would be best, whoever wins a heads or tails gets to choose their side might work or a generator as you said. Anyhow, could you PM both of us when the topic is launched so we don't miss it?

Right, Uranprojekt and Crazedtiger, first one to post with their preference gets their preference. Heads or tails?

The UK although I tend to be up quite late at night, around 4 or 5 am usually, so time zone difference shouldn't really be much of an issue.

Bad luck old man, I'm afraid it landed on tails.

Is there proof of this? I'm not saying that I don't trust you but it is important that we set off on a fair footing.

Okay, the debate is:

"The League of Nations was, overall, successful in its aims."

Uran, for or against?
