So, grinding out the Type 61 while getting the Archer Crew trained and I went looking out of curiousity. Where did the info for the 105mm being on this come from? Went looking but could not find anything on the Wikipedia entries for this tank that says anything about a 105mm being mounted on it, even in a testing phase.

Probably as part of the Type 74 testing programme or something.

Go and check that massive Japanese tank thread on the US PC forums that's been going on for three years. It's bound to be in there.

You can PM with with questions, if you wish. I don't bite.

Compilation thread of my ideas

I got Type 61 and oh boy do i struggle in it... what is the story with that tank, it's only stock at the moment, but does it get a bit stronger when upgraded? I was caught in the open by Black Prince (2 tiers down!) - and i couldn't out-DPM him...

You need to stay down a lot of the time.Just play peek-a-boom and remember these mottos:

"Proceed with caution."
"Festina lente" (Make haste slowly)

I'm working on it fully upgraded now. That 105 is a great gun and nice DPM for a tier 9 medium, but that's all it got going for it. For a no armor tank, it lacks the great camo that the STA1 and STB1 have, so it's near impossible to do anything undetected. The Cent 7/1 even has better camo lol

I am also grinding it. The one thing I'm finding is I'm almost out of ammo by the end of the battle! It's great for peaking ridges lines, and with but that rice paper turret :( meh
keep it hidden until your ready to strike, my play style with it is second line support but you can flex on the front when the battle is in your hands ;)

I'm still baffled by that massive machinegun tower on top of the turret. Seriously, that thing is twice the size of any other cupola I've seen in the game.

Trust me, that huge tumor on top of the turret doesn't even matter. The turret itself is a bigger weak spot to aim for.

Just don't get shot at and accept that you will be "permatected" no matter where you take cover. I get proximity spotted in this thing more than anything else.

proximity detection happens when you close within 50 meters of a target no matter what tank you are in.

Keep it 400 meters between you and the front and all should be fine.

Not as much worried about it being a weak spot. It just sticks up over ridge lines and walls and so gets the tank shot without you being able to respond. Plus it looks damn goofy.

Not sure about the historical gun stuff, as I only have seen 90 in anything I've ever seen. My only guess is 'because balancetm' on that. As far as the tank itself, for some reason I love it and I'm not even that good in it. I have had some great games and some horrible ones. I think it is because I am not good at realizing when I need to relocate and I stay in a place to long or advance on enemies when I probably should've retreated. Regardless, awesome tank. not the best stand-alone medium out there, but when in the proper situation it is a beast. I just go the first upgrade last night. Decent upgrade but I am really hoping the 105gun is what makes the tank shine. Either way, excited for the STB.
