If we're talking hypotheticals where as everything goes the way it went in history then obviously Americans as you had the best chance of surviving compared to other nations. If you could influence what tanks/strategies were used then probably the Germans.

quite funny when you notice tbown wants to be a nazi german and a specialised infantrymen, basically tbown wants to be in the SS

The SS weren't specialised infantry, which I'm sure tbown, with his infinite wisdom, would tell you.

The Waffen-SS was the same as the regular Heer infantry with one key difference; they were SS troops. In their capacity as SS troops, they received new equipment first and were, arguably, better trained. Other than that, the composition of Waffen-SS divisions was the same as the Heer. You had cavalry divisions, infantry divisions, panzergrenadier divisions, mountain troop divisions and so on.

early in the war the SS got second dibs on equipment and training was inferior to the Wehrmacht atleast in the beginning  , this later was the case with Luftwaffe fielddivisions formed from excess ground personal but initially under Luftwaffe command and training

Well, I won't argue with you. You are obviously more knowledgable in this area than I am, judging by your Strasserist profile picture. Who am I to argue with an anti-semitist with strong socialist values such as yourself?

Only the SS weren't specialized infantry, I picked specialized infantry because I'd want to be a Fallschirmjager.

There you go tbown, I've finally voted.

Here's what I chose and why:

USSR - that should be blatantly obvious.
Naval - The ВМФ -Военно-морской флот СССР - (English: VMF - Military maritime fleet of the USSR) had barely anything to do. Also, I really like the naval ensign and jack used by the VMF.
Yes - see reason above.

I chose countries that played a major part in the War participating in the majority of it, apart from maybe Yugoslavia the rest did not. There was no Ukraine around during WW2. France and China did nothing but lose the whole war.

First of all, you can go [edited] yourself, and secondly you can go [edited] yourself. I refuse to vote in a poll that excludes France and China, because "all they did was lose", but includes Finland. (I would also have a problem with it even if Finland wasn't in the poll)

No. With the exception of the really prominant ones like Das Reich, LSSAH, and so on, the SS was at best as well trained as the Heer. And Großdeutschland was probably better than the "elite" SS divisions were.

Wouldn't surprise me if navy personel were conscripted into the army.

Though I don't have any knowledge one way or the other, so w/e. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't be surprised.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we still teach military officer cadets about one of their battles? It was a defensive "retreat" that basically annihilated a superior armored force right?

I like how self confident people are with their survival chances.

(choosing German pilot or Japanese naval would be great for survival lol)

That's why I said "arguably", I was being lazy about it. :P

Soviet naval infantry did fight alongside the Red Army, I don't know about ship crews though. I suppose it's possible that a ship in port could have its crew sent off to fight as a makeshift naval infantry brigade.
