Great job bringing to attention OP!

I agree with others on here and other threads about identifying other tanks on screen but this is a simple, easy-to-fix issue for WG. Hope it can happen because it wastes precious time trying to move view around to see the enemy tank type but only seeing green that I am roaming with...

Is this why most the time when i try to LB a red nothing happens or it ends up sending a radial command to a green between us? It's super frustrating.

Yep, this is the reason for that. Accidentally telling someone to follow you instead of requesting firing on an enemy can be quite annoying.

Drives me mad - Can never see the health and tank name (both vital for knowing how to help) just the red symbol, but I get the inside leg measurements of the green team.

Indeed or why not just make it so it shows you whichevers closer? and not cater to either more than the other? It would be incredible to see this fixed

I hope this gets fixed soon. This has been a complaint of mine for a very long time. It's absolutely strategy breaking.

You are completely correct. It's silly. I'm not sure if this is strictly relevant but if you zoom into sniper view  you can see what it is whether terrain is in the way etc as long as that sniper view is close to the tank.

'Arty safe' is an oxymoron. Balance does not exist at tier 10.

Disappointed to not see this fix in the upcoming update. This has been becoming quite a problem for me lately. It's like rolling the dice now when you see a tank symbol whether you want to head towards or away from it. Is that a B1 or VK36 I see? Makes a big difference if I'm going to attack it or back off. But I just have to make a wild guess.

 

Saw this thread a while back and was hoping it would be addressed. But here's to another bump.

I keep thinking it will change, but it's still a frustrating issue.

There are still some severe frustrations, but I still love to play.

That right there is what's wrong with it. The padding space for friendly tanks is so much greater than enemy tanks. The game seems to prioritize being able to see the tank name of an ally over an enemy for whatever reason. If there was an ally to the left of this image as well, it would literally be impossible to point your camera at the enemy tank icons to see what tank it is. For all you know, that heavy could be anything ranging from an ST-I to a Tiger. This issue is amplified when you're in high-tier games trying to figure out what TD the enemy is driving; it could be a Deathstar or it could just be an SU-122-54.

 

The obvious fix is to make the game prioritize the on-screen name of an enemy tank rather than a friendly tank or at the very least give them even padding. I'd MUCH rather know if there's a Deathstar around the corner than know what my team mate is driving.

 

Prime example:

Just look at that tiny amount of space your camera needs to be in to see the name of that enemy medium tank compared to the space that will allow you to see a friendly tank. This seriously needs to be fixed.

 

What it should be like (I'm not going to go through the hastle of editing the name above the tanks, but you should get the point):

 

This absolutely needs to change, and its an INCREDIBLY aggravating system that's cause my countless problems ingame
