Thanks for the post Turbo.  I agree to most, but I have no hope that WGA gives a damn.

Git gud here:  bit.ly/tankguide (I should read this).  On Track list.

MS has a big hand in this too. They botched the XB1 launch so bad that many are staying with the 360.No new games for the 360 means many 360 owners logging in to WOT for the first time. So we have a lot of new players mixed with veterans which makes things unpredictable.

That being said, I agree on the team balanced (unbalanced) part. You cannot do so much damage and destroy so many tanks to make up for lack of brain power in the rest of your team. Small proof:

eah. I was on the front line, dealing damage! Killing tanks! Blocking damage! And even platooned with a friend who finished just behind me with 4k damage,.. Yup there were 13 other players in my team and none of them was afk.

One thing that can easily be done: Double (at least) the price of premium shells.

So long as you're not one of those imbeciles that takes your slower Ruskie and German heavy tanks to the field... Mali is a great map for heavies.

I don't see how you can expect light tanks to be competitive at tier X when there are no light tanks above tier VIII.

Other than that I agree with most of this. The main problem, it seems to me, is that we don't have independent hoppers for serious players and recreational players, and whatever team ends up with more of the former usually wins. Almost every multiplayer game I have played had separate hoppers, usually ranked and unranked.

But the core of all the problems that blight World of Tanks, the thing you will find at the bottom of practically every issue this game has, is its free-to-play business model. As I have argued at length elsewhere, free-to-play is inherently incompatible with a competitive gaming environment. Period. Everything that Wargaming does is directed at selling ever more Premium accounts and Premium tanks. The very structure of this game, 15 v 15 random, is the result of careful planning and manipulation of the law of averages.

So long as we have this particular business model under our game, things are not going to change for the better.

It's entirely dependent on both your team and tank. Some heavies do excellent at the hill, and some do bad because of lack of Turret armor, gun depression, or speed. If the tank is too slow, the enemy will be in position way in advance. If the friendly team doesn't support you, you will be overrun.

Besides all this, it isn't fun to be forced into a tiny chokepoint over being able to go to multiple locations. You might be able to succeed on Mali in a heavy if you go to the same spot every game, but that doesn't really make it fun.

The real reason for lopsided games is that WOT continues to attract new players.Back in the early days, post launch, teams were comprised of mostly beta players who knew each other .Games were nailbiters often coming down to 2 on 2 matches. But nowadays games are lopsided because we have a lot of great players and a lot of latecomers. Many players thought this game wouldnt last or thought they wouldnt like it.Two years in many of those are bored with their other games and finally downloading it. So now we have many of those good players from beta now mixing it up with the fresh meat.So in essence,WG has fallen victim to its own success. The only way to fix it is to remove all ads and stop getting new players until the ones we have catch up with the rest.

After the launch we Beta players had a large advantage over all of the new players in that we knew the maps and we knew the tanks , We already knew how to circle and track and repeat to kill a larger tank, .  We already knew the weak spots and what it took.  2 years later that advantage is almost gone and it is now twice as hard to carry a team to victory.  Damn WG, bring back the good old days

I would like to add the "war" maps. My god they are bad for everything that isn't good for going hull down. Rubble everywhere really spoils them for fast movers and frankly they are a mess, and yes I know its supposed to be a mess but you know what I mean. They are awful. Overall the maps gave gotten considerably worse, hell I am happy to see Komarin these days, KOMARIN????

1) nerf higher level TD's

2) max of 3 person platoons

3) limit arty to 2 per team

4) balance team composition by WG player rating.  For example, highest rated player to green, next two to red, etc... Platooned payers would be averaged.

5) reduce the degree of RNG a bit.

Sure.

Its great fun going to the hill in an E75 when 2-3 arties are pre-aiming at your location...

The issues with high tiers is why I enjoy tiers IV - VIII the most. And that's what I think not enough people do: just play tanks they enjoy, regardless of tier.

The fascination with high tiers is something I've never understood. (Not saying you are, Turbo. That's just a general statement.) Tier X and even IX are a tiny portion of this game, yet are the most unbalanced for some reason and cause the most grief. So...I don't play them often. I have fun more often than not, and don't worry about having half a red team that can one shot me/clip me out regularly.

Your mileage may vary.
