Dr Bodge's Guide to Cliff (Basic)

 

One of the classic maps, and also one of the most misplayed. Lack of good sniping spots leads camping players to defend the valley which is, for the most part, a terrible mistake. As is so often the case the game is won or lost in the centre.

 

Good for: Medium and Heavy tanks, particularly mobile ones.

Bad for: Very slow tanks and poorly armoured sniping tanks.

 

East Side

The main force of heavy tanks will usually push to the East of the main mountain. This is fine, and useful work can be done here, but this is most likely due to the arty cover provided by the hill.

 

Central Ridge

Mediums and Heavies alike will usually fight for control of the mid-ridge while Lights will try to pass through to climb the hill. This is a precarious battle, susceptible to artillery, support fire from TDs and flanking shots from both sides as the game progresses.

 

Donut

A smaller hill on the plateau just East of the valley often fought over by Light and Medium tanks. This area is similar in importance to the mid-ridge but even trickier to win and hold.

 

Valley

The valley should be defended rather than attacked. The narrow passage leaves you very vulnerable and, should you succeed, you exit into a cross-fire. Most tanks are better off somewhere else.
