I dunno where else to put this so I'm putting it here, in Fan Art. Anyway, long story short I got a mod recently on PC Which basically made the camos better looking by replacing them with higher definition images or whatever, don't ask me this crap, I don't know how it works. Regardless, I found out I could mess with these awhile back and have been mostly replacing ones I personally don't like with others.

I'd post pictures of every camo pattern I've messed with, but there's a lot. Like, I'm not kidding, I've probably screwed with pretty much all of them by now. A lot of them I just make look even better (IMO) rather than outright replacing them, but even if I only showed the ones I've replaced there's still so many, not to mention that I've got multiple replacements.

I am posting a few though, I mean, that's what this thread is right? Those that I'm posting are some of the British camos I've messed with, as awhillllllle back I recall a thread made by Sqn Ldr B Suggesting some more authentic (?) British camo patterns. Not to say all of those I've messed with are such, but a fair few of them are atleast attempts at them which I think might catch yer' fancy.

I've taken three screenshots of each pattern (7 Total) on 4 Different tanks; the Crusader, the Charioteer, the Centurion Mk. 7/1 and the FV215b. Due to the image limit on the forums, I'll just link to the Imgur albums for each separate tank. I'll probably try and get a few in-game screenshots of some of my favourite ones when possible, but don't count on those coming anytime soon.

Also, ahead of time, I apologise for the FV215b's messed up emblem. It's a custom model and while the model itself is made for the 9.14 Live Server, I'm taking the screenshots on the 9.15 Test Server (as I don't own these tanks on Live), so something's been messed up in-between.

Anyway, without further delay, here they are:

Centurion Mk. 7/1

I hope you enjoy them.

These are great, and would be awesome if they were in game - you've managed to put some historical camos into the game just by messing around on your PC whereas WG has failed to with a whole art team and years of work lol

Most of these are pretty historic (or still in use) too, so would be a very welcome addition to the game.

Also they look awesome in dark green, the colour they should be.

Nice work. It's a shabby state of affairs when not only can WG's players suggest better and more realistic content but also create it. Come on WG, look lively.

It's only a hack job, but who knows, hopefully it'll prompt them to try to replicate some of them. If I understood how to do this stuff better (and was better at doing it anyway), I'd love to make some more such as Kingforce, but eh, tough luck at the moment.

Some in-game screenshots.

Honestly, my favourite has to be the bronze green. I can't stop fanboying over it. Also, sorry Sqn since I know you don't like anime, but this one I had to get a screenshot of for the GuP Fans (see link: http://www.imcdb.org/i583726.jpg);

Also, another one I'd like to "show-case" is an "Allies green" colour on French vehicles. Got nothing better to call it, so Allies green. I actually have wanted to do this for awhile now and love how it turned out, though it'll never be as great as the British bronze green.

Yes, the Bronze Green is rather fetching. Is that the Malta Scheme I see on this Churchill?

And the Caunter Scheme is amazing:

It's supposed to be the Malta scheme, ye. Same case with Caunter. I'm surprised I could get Caunter to work, as it's just a recolour of the clown camo.

That's perhaps the main camo I'd want to make, but I don't really know how. I can't seem to find a pattern that really fits, nor the matching colours (closest I can get is that camo pattern you see with the black and very light tan).

I'm going to actually attempt a custom pattern later to see if I can get the pattern down, but the colours will still be off.

This might help it's the same as the Kingforce scheme, the same pattern was used on Crusaders and Shermans late in the desert campaign:

Also maybe the Caunter Scheme could do with more angles in it, rather than just regular diagonal stripes like it is now?

I'll try, but it might not be possible. It's hard to explain without just posting the screenshots (which I can't get at the moment), so give it another 20 Minutes when I get to my PC And I'll post the screenshots of actually editing the camo itself in Paint.NET.

Right. This is what my Caunter scheme looks like on the .dds file in Paint.NET (I'm not going to try and pretend I'm knowledgeable on this stuff by the way. I'm about as tech-savvy as yer' great great grandparents probably are on this stuff);

Spoiler

The brown/red colour is the becomes that dark blue colour, the pink the lighter blue and the bluey-purple the tan-yellow. The pattern has to be able to repeat itself as such;

Spoiler

The highlighted red square is the original size. If there's a flaw and they can't fit like that perfectly, it'll mess up the camo a bit. I've actually only just noticed now testing this that there's a small error if you look just below the red box. I'll highlight it;

Spoiler

This is actually only a tiny issue (though I'm sorting out fixing it now), and on most tanks isn't probably noticeable. But if I put that scheme on my TOG For example and find the matching spot;

Spoiler

This isn't all to say it isn't possible to add the different angles to the Caunter scheme, I'm absolutely certain it's possible, I'm just not sure how to do it myself as like I said, I'm far from knowledgeable on this stuff and my skill would rival a goldfish. I'll have a shot at it, but no promises.

Here's a camo I just made myself. It's not perfect or anything, though I'll probably save it for the sake of keeping it;

http://imgur.com/a/vnlkh

I'm testing another version of it where I've actually combined my own new one with an existing one. I haven't made sure they actually fit perfectly (that whole thing I explained above with Caunter), but it looks quite neat;
