So, does the console version have the same max render range as the PC, or is it better since it uses a different engine.  The Binoc and Coated Optics description do say they extend view range to up to 500m.  Is that the max on console?

Wait, here's the thing. There is the render range, which is the farthest distance at which the game will show any enemy tank spotted by anyone on your team. That distance is now a circle with a radius of 564 m. It used to be a square with sides that were 1000 m long. The area you can see tanks in hasn't changed that much, but the shape did. 

 

Now, there is also the view range, which is a circle of 445 m. You cannot spot tanks beyond 445 m. You might be able to see them if someone else is spotting them, but you can't spot them yourself. 

 

But whether you spot them is determined by your tank's view range and any modifiers from equipment, crew skills, and consumables. That number can vary well beyond 500 m. I think the highest number possible is something like 580 m. But even if your tank has a view range of 580 m, you will never spot anything beyond 445 m.

Keep in mind that was more of a Server side change not a game side change so they probably didn't think it needed to be in the notes

Half a GB by the look of it. If you notice it says that update 3.0 is 7.1GB whilst the Xbox One update was only 6.6GB.

That's a valid point but also its an important game mechanic and you're now able to see 13% further straight in front (assuming they've gone with 564m as per PC).  Its probably worth a mention?

It's probably a MS not signing something off to be fair, I'm sure WG wouldn't make that obvious a mistake on purpose.

THX. That made sense. Always wondered how the maxium spot range works.

Microsoft uses GiB in its operating systems, but calls it GB. In this case 7.1 "real" GB (7 100 000 000 bytes) is about 6.6 "Microsoft" GB...
