Hello.

Here's just a quick and simple idea to make crew ranks relevant.

 

The idea is that the more ranked the crew is, the more bonus crew XP the crew gets.

Pretty much like how mentor works.

 

Good Idea?

Makes it possible to still make somewhat of a crew XP gain without spending hundreds of battles in a single tank to move up something like 10%.

 

So I support it.

I approve anything that makes getting to rank 10 for the achievement faster.

Just throwing this out there, to try and keep it from causing high ranked crews to be OP, break it up like they do cost of crew skills:

Ranks 0-4 = 1 multiplier

Ranks 5-9 = 1.1 multiplier

Ranks 10-14 = 1.15 multiplier

Ranks 15+ = 1.2 mutiplier

 

Not sure on what the actual # ends up being, but something like that. I am not even sure how many crew ranks there are :hiding:

There's up to 17 ranks.

I like it.  I'd actually be o.k. with either bonus XP (maybe even free XP or crew XP) or even Silver Bonus.  After all, more experienced crews should "earn" more.

They could just make the crew skills cheaper if that's what they wanted to do.

Private, Lance Corporal, Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, WO2, WO1, Second Lieutenant, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant-Colonel, Brigadier, Major-General, Lieutenant-General and General and Field Marshal are the British ones.

I agree it would have the same effect, but the original post was how to make crew ranks relevant. Right now, other than a fancy title, they mean nothing. Add a crew XP modifier to the rank and it actually means something. Same end result though.

It's not based on number of skills, it's based on crew XP.

this is what the wiki says for PC.  I don't think it's accurate for us console guys though -

 

 

Ranks

As your crew increases in training level, they will be awarded with higher ranks, with every 50% in a role, skill, or perk awarding a new rank. If, when retraining, a crew member loses some competence, he will not be demoted in rank. There are separate ranks for each nation. A crewman's rank also depends on his role. Loaders and Radio Operators start at the lowest rank and may only advance to the third-highest rank. Drivers and Gunners start out one rank higher and may advance to the second-highest rank. Commanders start out two ranks higher and may advance to the highest rank.

I like this idea. It doesn't have to be a huge amount of XP.

Or how about as your crew goes up in rank it's cheaper to move them between tanks?

I saw that as well, and am inclined to agree - though it could vary some, such as how many times that specific crew had to retrain up to 100% in a new tank. 

 

What I do know is I have a crew at about 10 and a half skills that is very close to hitting Rank 9. Looks like that promotion to Rank 10 is a long slog (pity, given that is the only achievement I need to get back to 100%).

The cost of moving is to prevent you from constantly moving one super crew.

Not entirely: you spend some XP retraining in new tanks.  A crew that has moved five times will have one less skill than a crew that has stayed in the same tank for the same XP earned: five moves is about the same cost as a first-four skill.
