The main issue with this new feature is it punishes your scouts for doing their job and rewards camping behavior. It wouldn't be as much of a problem if they'd implement the TD view range nerfs properly and reduced the penalty to view range on lights.

how is it punishing lights?  if they keep moving in a non stright line they can get out of the LOS quicker since its smaller

That and high tier lights die really fast once spotted which makes scouting runs suicide.

so 1 way to play isn't as good on this map.  you can't adapt to that and change?

The problem is it nerfs the class as a whole, not just one type of play style. It also hurts mediums too.

Doesn't it nerf everything?  Maybe I missed it in the release notes but it wasn't a different % for different classes.

so would you like me to tank a corner, sidescrape against 183s, e75s and wafflee100s. Perhaps start brawling over hills with my awesome accuracy, incredible gun mantlet and high pen rounds. This is sarcasm. Scouting and waiting for an opening is what lights do. They don't really fit into anything else. If they cant scout you take away their effectiveness

This is probably the kind of player who suicides into the enemy team in his lights every match. I don't think explaining how the game works will be of any use.

you can scout slowly moving, its not like steppes is a city map there is openeings you can move,    is it possible you walk into trouble?  sure,

but if you work with you team its possible to get out as well - plan a head, don't put yourself into spots where you don't have help and you only have 1 way in and out

Or just afk in a bush that works too

Map doesn't matter when you are referring to waffle-OP/broken-dragon!

One took out my AMX 50B on Westfield on a clear day in a matter of seconds!

what's basically happened with this is as far as scouting is concerned WG have shrunk the map. Now if you cannot answer this next question you really should stop playing tanks. Is it harder to hit something that moves fast at long range or short range? Lights totally rely on not being hit, are you seeing the issue?

That's a possible solution.

The thing is that the entire meta changes. I came up with some guidelines for these maps, I'll copy/paste

  • View range is reduced by 50%, radio range was reduced by (I believe) 50% as well
  • Tier 6 lights and normal tier 7+ are the only ones that see these maps so everyone has the same view range
  • Your light tank camo is inferior to the TDs stationary camo
  • Even if you rush a good position half way up the map, the teammates are out of your radio range because they didn't leave the base
  • Max Chaos said something to the effect of sniping is now difficult and your light is less likely to get shot when spotted. Your tank still has an outline, so it's no harder than shooting through a bush
  • You now have no idea if there is a hole in their lines on the other side of the map or if your team has died horribly
  • The team with the most tank destroyers wins
  • The downtime between matches is a great opportunity to come here and hate on the new variants like I'm doing right now. I got killed by a camping 183 lol

Realistically, I suggest you camp like everyone else. Stay on your side of the half way point

  • Friendlies aren't going to move
  • If you move up and get destroyed early on, teammates will be too afraid to move forward
  • It becomes your job to maintain radio contact between both halves of your team
  • It's your job to know if your teammates got seal-clubbed and your base is about to be invaded
  • You might pick up spotter damage on enemy lemmings that didn't read this post and heed my warning.
  • If you shoot a spotted tank from more than 300m, you won't be spotted by that tank.

good luck

I can't stand these maps.

Are you guys going to have the same discussion again? I believe the topic is about the new map, not your personal issues with each other. Let's stick to the topic, shall we? I've already removed unnecessary posts. Thanks.

I LOVE ERLENBERG SNOWSTORM BUT YOU GUYS ARE CORRECT.... Steppes sandstorm is a bit too much. View range is extremely affected by the sand, too much imo.

To be honest I really like it. It requires thinking, moving away from solutions-fits in the game, and above all brings a touch of realism and variety. I played a few times on this map and noticed (regretfully) a large amount of thoughtlessness and stupidity of the players. Lack of mental flexibility and typical for this game intellectual laziness. So, it is not for everyone this map. On the other hand, it shows what they look like the real attitude of the players.
Personally, I had one of the better games.
