So was I. No Super Pershing saw combat against a Tiger II, German records clearly showed that there were no Tiger IIs in the area lol.

Well, according to Tiger Tanks At War, by Michael Green, one Super Pershing was sent to Germany in the closing stages of the war in Europe, with the specific purpose of testing it against a Tiger II, and the scenario I described was what happened.

"Some say that he dines on lower glacis, and that he once spent three weeks hiding in a thick French bush. All we know is, he's called the Stug!"

A SP was certainly sent to Europe, and it saw combat - but not against a Tiger II. I seem to recall that it took out an unidentified German tank, but it was more like a Panther, as a Tiger II kill would have been largely photographed and studied and not just a story in a couple of books with very little supporting evidence (and indeed evidence against the story).

I know T29s never saw combat and were not mass produced but does anyone have any real world evaluation on how the T29 would have fared against the Tiger I?

The t29 and namely is gun was designed to kill tiger 2's or king tigers. Only wot thinks otherwise . So the tiger would have been no match. As the t29's gun was designed to penetrate at longer ranges. So the tiger would never really get close enough. But then again , your talking about tanks which were designed quite far apart time wise.

this^^^^ more specifically it was designed to fight the king tiger or tiger 2 ,if you will ,,as was the pershing. BTW the only known battle between the pershing and king tiger ,,the pershing destroyed it in one hit.

I've read of multiple late war Pershing engagements.

late war there were more king tigers in Berlin than tigers

the heavy tank battalions of the regular German army were all spent or surrendered by then.

im fairly sure there was more than one king tiger engaged by the 90 mm

Ummm they weren't designed that far apart, you're talking about the space of a couple of years.

3 to be exact.
