All this only has sense with a global view range nerf. Otherwise, tier 9 lights will perform little better than the current tier 8s, because they keep facing medium tanks and tank destroyers with the same or better view range and have harder time sniping.

The tier 9 light are the current tier 8 light tanks with some minor buffs.

Very few mediums go over max view range with optics. Max view range is 500m to burn through camo while light tanks keep their great camo and can get much more view range thanks to the 420m. The dpm isn't finalized and you realize moving light tanks up a tier but removing scout matchmaking means they see the same battles they currently do.

Yes, I somewhat understand the burn through cammo thing is how lights can spot before a medium.  And I understand the 500m is max stated on the equipment, but is the actual, 454m to spot a tank?  I like the 420m boost (it's a positive), just don't know how much advantage it is over a medium with 400 with optics, vents, recon, and BIA.  Examples using tanks.gg on the E50 and Leo PTA puts view range at about 479 and with food, it goes to 499.

There are still some severe frustrations, but I still love to play.

The max spotting range is 445m but you can get your viewrange to 500m.

Example: T49 and M48 Patton. Both 500m viewrange and full camo (perks/skills/paint). The T49 will spot the Patton at 417m if the Patton is stationary, 423m if moving, and 445m if firing. The Patton will spot the T49 at 350m or 445m if the T49 fires. Keep in mind both are fully camo and maxed out view range. Most tier X's you meet in game will not have 500m viewrange or full camo.

Is there a site that calculates the numbers to know about how close you can get without firing?

Of course, this is the PC version and they are, I believe, a completely separate entity to the console devs, which is one of the reasons we still have the WT auf E100 and pc don't, so I wouldn't be too worried about it for now or at least until we hear something about it from WG. That being said, I have a mate who has seen this info on the light tanks and he is so up in arms about the possibility of his T49 losing the 152mm gun launcher, that he has said he will uninstall the game and never play it again.

I don't understand why someone would quit over one tank being changed, it's actually getting a functional gun instead of a really powerful derp gun. I mean it's one tank getting changed, out of 300. :D

If I only had a Baneblade....

Unless the Sheridan is the only tank you can safely drive into deep water, the decision to use the amphibious package on the tank's model is just bizarre.   It's like WG knew there are a bunch of Sheridan fans out there and performed exhaustive research to find the ugliest model of that tank just to crap on their hopes.

The LTTB and M41 Walker Bulldog both move up to tier 8.

The LTTB keeps the same gun stats but the M41 is likely to lose it's auto loader

the chinese keep the WZ-132.

The French get a new LT. The BC 12t. A longer version of the AMX 13 series with the turret in the middle of the tank. It is a weird looking tank.

The germans get the HKW-12. If the Sp1C and the VK 45.02 B got a baby, this is what it would look like. It looks retarded.

wotinfo.net but it isn't easy to do because this is PC version stats and it depends highly on your enemy's view range plus any damage they have taken.

Just saying what he has said to me. He obviously feels extremely attached to it. His prerogative I suppose.

The lights will will have a great view range. Highest in game and as far as I know will still retain the scout camo. This means they will be scout tanks as they were intended. The stats shown were being tested and have been changed but as far as moving them up a tier, you realize that has no effect right? They are the exact same as they are right now.

uh,,, wrong ,,you're confusing view range with spotting range, max spotting range is 445m,regardless. any view range equipment/skills that goes past that is just to counter camo,.once an enemy is spotted anyone can see him/her over 600m away.

Update 3.0 reduced render range to 554m or something close, no more 600+.  Looked for the notes, but couldn't find them.

There are still some severe frustrations, but I still love to play.
