Can someone give me tips for getting better chances on acquiring this tank? In the past events I saw that the requirements was XP earning or tank killing. My better thanks are the KV 1 and the KV 1S (the KV 1 has the derp gun, should I give it also to the KV1?), the M3 Lee (upgrading it to T1 Heavy) the Type 34 and the Marder II.

Play tanks you enjoy and do well in. Do whatever the operation says. You should be good to go. They also take a lot of time for some.

To the OP...You and I have a similar number of battles played, and I too am focused on getting good in my kv1 and kv1s. My overall performance is getting better. I switch from derp to the 85 frequently with both tanks and earned my first Reaper medal doing so. So to answer your question, use both guns on those two tanks.

I'm working on increasing my damage per match and firing more effective shots per match, I set arbitrary goals. 10 penetrations with derp. 2 destroyed tanks per match. Surviving the match(lol).

Now. About earning the IS3a.

Maybe?

It's all speculation what the ops will entail. If it's an "earn X amount of experience" per step, and multiple steps it may be a bit harder with tier 5's and our comparative skill levels than for someone with tier 7/8 and blue stats. If it's something else, well who knows right?

Me? I'm not gonna sweat it.

I'm working on getting my k/d ratio closer to a 1:1 and same with my damage caused/received. I'm gonna play 300 games in the t-34, kv1, kv1s and m4. I will probably step into a tier 6 in a week or so. It doesn't matter if I don't earn an IS3a. I will eventually be driving the IS variants from the tech tree.

I too am new to this game and sadly addicted to it :( , as long as your having fun, playing, you will get it.  In the recently concluded Tankbowl, thought reaching mvl and getting the Champion tank was a tall task, during the op just played and had fun, at one point forgot was playing for something, while stats are important don't get to caught up in it as we are still learning to play this game.  Good luck, keep playing, have fun and you will see that tank in your garage :)

when a full health derp KV1 & a full health 57mm KV1 face each other, the faster firing 57mm KV1 will kill the derp KV1 first*

*as long as prammo is used by the 57mm

i recommend the 57 because of one thing only - pop & shoot is hard for the KV1 to do. against other tier 5 its armour is quite bouncy, especially the turret. just sit & shoot.

The regular IS-3 is a very good tank you'll love it and how long have you been playing?

but you should care for a tier 8 premium, if you do not have a premium account, cuz tier 8 9 and 10 will cost you a lot of silver per match.....even going negative on wins is not out of the ordinary........ A tier 8 premium makes a crapload of silver per match

I haven't purchased premium...Yet. It's the plan, I will likely buy some gold and a tier 6/7 tank about the same time. I'm being realistic here- if the requirements to earn an IS3a are beyond my abilities I'm not gonna be too upset. I think I've selected the right range of tanks to focus on getting good in- kv1, kv1s, m4 and t-34. I have kept my t-26 and a-20 just for variety, for now but they aren't a priority.

Buying premium time and a premium tank now will not help me improve my k/d, damage caused/received will it now? Just like earning a free tier 8 will not magically allow me to do better in this game.

So I'm not gonna be stupid and not consider tying to earn the IS3a...But if I don't, it's not gonna be that  bothersome to me. As for silver...When I do pony up some cash, I'll buy a bit of that too along with the premium and gold.

I'm still working on my first skills in my tanks ATM, and complex equipment is something I'm grinding out the silver for. Learning how to shoot- sniping, hull down, sidescraping etc is still something that I need to practice.

On the topic of silver.

I understand that i'd earn a lot of silver with a higher tier premium, if I played well. The fact is- at the moment I don't play well, consistently because I'm still figuring shiz out. I have good games, but not often enough where spending silver on premium ammo would make a difference. With one or no skill tank crews vents wouldn't help me much. I have gun laying drives, rammers and camo where appropriate.

So, give me another week or two and I'll be over 1000 games played. I'll hopefully have settled into my current tier 5 tanks and moved into a tier 6. I'll make an attempt at the IS3a...It all depends on what the requirement are whether I succeed. If I don't I will have a premium, likely from the tech tree.

I'm going to get into the IS series tanks, and I've been playing 21 days so far. The regular IS/IS-3 will be mine, same with a t-29, an M6 as well and because it looks like fun a kv-13.

Make as much silver as you can because you might need to buy a few tanks in order to make the op easier. If you can, try to platoon a lot this weekend and do the war brother op.

Gun laying drive and rammer for your kv1/kv1s.

I think you should wait to see what the op is. If it's like the motherland op, you'll need as many russian tanks as possible (as long they're tier 3 and up).

Upgrades: do you mean package or equipment?

Well, now I can buy the KV 2 but I dont have enough money, I also grinded my way to the T 34, I found the BT 7 to be fun (killing artys is great) so I will keep it and hope that it can help me together with the Raseinai. Any tank that I should keep permanently? Thanks in advance.

We often sell tanks because we need money to buy other tanks, but each player gets 4 exceptions per year to get back tanks they once owned.  So don't worry about selling tanks since you'll always have a chance to get them back.

Get the the kv2 asap. Great tank to get kills and xp.
