My Motherland is my first tier 8. I can't pen squat. is there a point to play beyond hide or suicide? I feel like my tier 4s vs 6s.... except then I don't lose my silver.

**EDIT** Fatherland, not Motherland. Was frustrated and always think of Soviet as motherland and German as fatherland.

Yeah, course.

Take advantage of sprockets. I can pen an E-100 and track him with my Motherland if they decide to slowly come around a corner.

Snipe, flank. Support.

 Screw my elders!!!!

World of Tanks a game where it's 1 versus 29. 15 reds trying to kill you and 14 greens trying to support them. The yellows are your only hope. For signature and stats visit http://wotinfo.net/en/player-stats

I've seen Ace troll Tier 10s in his so believe me, it can be done :great:

APCR and patience for your chance to make the difference will go a long way.

Support. Be annoying, track stuff and when th enemy is more worried about your tier 9s and 10s get to their side's and do what you can. Shoot APCR when you need to. It's never fun to be bottom tier in a tank like the Motherland but you can still contribute.

Artillery punishes flankers, not campers.

YES. Camp and snipe till your tens have actually done their work, then go in and finish off the red survivors they didn't. Don't try to go head to head with anyone higher tier than you, flank or snipe. If your teams tens and nines know what they are doing, you will see a time come when you can abandon your hiding hole and attack full on. This is ESPECIALLY true for lights. If your tens and nines don't know what they are doing, you will lose unless you can cap out.

^^This^^.  Work the flanks and position yourself on the second line to support the 9's and 10's.  You will have plenty of matches to practice because MM will place you one or two tiers down often.  The great thing is when you find yourself top tier you feel like king of the world!!!

My original response was for Motherland.  Since we are discussing the Fatherland, let me add that I shoot HEAT (yes I'm one of those guys) when facing higher tier tanks in my Fatherland.  The gun has typical Russian (in)accuracy so make certain you are fully aimed and then maybe, maybe your round will find its target..!

A while ago I carried a tier 10 match in the Legion. Ended up 1v2. Myself against an e5 and t30. Just focused on isolating them and then working their tracks.
I had all my hit points for the end game because I played the support role. I feel like the biggest thing to overcome when bottom tier is the hit points difference. They are precious and don't take ANY shots early in the game when bottom tier.

I don't know how you're playing your motherland but you can play it as a scout, it's concealment rating is better than good, it's great.

Play it as a scout if you can't seem to do damage, you should be able to get good credits by getting spotting damage from your teammates.

If you're going to scout you need this equipment: camo net, binoculars, coated optics.

Crew skills: six sense, camouflage, greenthumb, silent driving, situational awareness, recon, muffled shot, signal boosting, brothers in arms.

Watch some videos on how to scout.

When you say Motherland, do you actually mean Fatherland?  You've never played the Motherland (T-54 1st Prot medium tank), but you do have 100 games in the Fatherland (IS-3A heavy tank).

All the advice on flanking, scouting etc will need to change if you're playing in IS-3A...

Each to there own, but I wouldn't put a camo net and bino's on my Motherland.

He said motherland not fatherland.

If it's your fatherland then you need to carry around 10 premium rounds.
when you see a big armored tier X tank the you reload a premium round and you need to FULLY AIM your shots at those tier X tanks weak spots.
In other words, learn all tier X's weak spots, who to shoot and whom not to shoot(frontally).
And you need to fall back as a support brawler.

Optics, sit awareness, recon , silent driving, 20 apcr. There, you are now a scout/anti-scout at tier 10.

Although, if it's your first tier 8, park it. I speak from experience. It took me 900 games to dig mine out of the hole I made for it while playing it like an idiot. It got its second mark during the Fatherland op thanks to liberal application of apcr.

I've trolled dumb tier 10 drivers with my KV-4s thick side armor on a number of occasions. I angle in a way it looks over angled, but it's actually fine in the KV-4 to over angle a little bit more then most other heavies, because the sides have basically the same effective thickness as the frontal armor.

I've blown up many a Tier X in my T28 Proto and T34.  In fact, both seem to attract attention.  Lotsa fun when a red sees the tier, goes in for the "easy kill" and then gets punished.  Hit the right spots and enjoy the absurdity.  Quick note though - Don't lead the pack as if you're top tier, it can be a painful lesson in humility.....LOL
