You wouldn't want the Rudy over the T-34/88 as a crew trainer because... Wait for it...

I know this is going to come as a shock to you, being new and all but...

Buying premiums isn't just about crew training or silver earning potential. Sometimes players buy them because they look like they might be fun to play.
The Rudy has a dog for a crew member. And he barks.

You mean why buy it, other than a decent T6 premium?

lol you must really hate dogs or something, everytime i see you post your tryin to stop people buying it.

the rudys a good tank, i have it on pc and now i have it here.

not gonna argue about which is better tank but when it comes to new players i feel that the better pen, aim and view range make the rudy easyer to play and getting silver not a bit extra crew xp is much more usefull to newer players.

going on a one man mission to try and put people off buying it is a bad thing and as its noobs that might get taken in by your ranting and they are the ones that would do best getting this over the 88, well you should be ashamed of yourself.

I'm not putting it off lol.

I own the Rudy on PC, and I got my first Ace Tanker on my first game.

The ONLY REASON I HAVE BEEN PUTTING IT OFF IS WHEN PEOPLE COMPARE IT STAT BY STAT TO THE T-34/88. On posts where it is not a race on STATISTICS, I would definitely promote it over the 88. Why? FREE SIXTH SENSE PERK, DOGGIE, AND A BETTER T-34-85.

Please don't think I hate the Rudy. :P

Also, noobs would benefit more from the T-34/88. Why?

Better speed

Better mantlet

12mm of pen will not help you get through the front of an O-I without APCR.

Better alpha

Fear factor

This is open for debate, though :)

Novelty is the reason I have a lot of tanks, too! :)

My novelty tanks are the ones I like most, such as the Type 59, and the Fury.

I was referring specifically to just crew training. Some people were talking about which one would make a better crew trainer in a post I saw earlier this week between the Rudy and the 88's crew training capabilities.

If I had enough gold, I would also get the Rudy, and then do even better on console than PC.

I'll get a pet doge.... sometime :(

You know, I put off making a comparison thread between the 88 and the Rudy, but I guess I'll just make it. It seems a lot of people are still confused with the differences.

Rare tank syndrom? Maybe when it was first sold, but since this is the third or fourth time that it is sold no rare tank syndrom any more.

Everyone knows you are just a T-34-85 with a bigger gun.

Better speed

better speed is not noob frendly, if anything it just means they get ahead of the pack and die quicker.

Better mantlet

lol iv never seen anyone go hull down in a t34-88 and have a good game. it may pull off a few bounces but really its not a hull down tank.

12mm of pen will not help you get through the front of an O-I without APCR.

well yes it will. any extra pen will help but are you really judging a t6 med on how well it does agenst a jap heavy toe to toe??? if you judge it agenst more normal tanks then 12mm of pen will help and in the low 100s an extra 12mm is right where its most usefull as the better armour of tanks you'll face the most is high end 100 120mm range so yeah 12mm does help a lot.

Better alpha

220 v 237 so 17 more, thats about 7 or 8% yeah?? well rng is +-25% so i cant see this having a real world impact, not like 10% extra pen would.

Fear factor

oh come off it, your just making things up now.

This is open for debate, though :)

btw i see you changed your avatar to a pic of a cat.. r you sure its not just dogs you hate?

You can move the crew to a regular tank, but since its "Home Tank" is a premium, which doesnt count, it has no real home-tank. So you will hav eto pay Silver to retrain the crew to that Techtree tank as usual.

and yes, the dog barks in other tanks from what i've heard :)

Thanks for the info, Will wait for the T3488. Struggling with these stock tanks(DW2), Bottom tier is frustrating. This gun really is bad. Loaded 6 premium rounds and they still bounce on weakspots. MG ports, Lower Glacius and Cupolas. I just want an E50-M. But already dreading the Panthers. No premium acct. Not sure I want to spend alot on this game at the moment. But the T34-88, Will be a determining factor. I left before and just came back,. +1

If you don't have any premiums the 34-88 is good. You might also want a low tier trainer or use a TT tank for raw crews. Although the T-34-88 is great, with bonus %, I think the Captured KV is a better dual nation for new players. Get both if possible.

Don't judge the game on the basis of the DW2 - it's a hateful tank. One of a few that I hunt down in revenge. The reward is the VKs and Tiger and everything else after the DW2. You appreciate decent tanks after it. The gun is awful, even when the accuracy improves on the last package - the VK30+36H are a revelation (except the 10.5) and everything else works better too...  :)

The novelty of the dog will be the primary selling point. Unless you are a T-34 aficionado and must own all the T-34's much in the same way as I am about Panthers. The 34/88 makes it redundant

The ultimate glory of a barking 34-88 cannot be underestimated! I needed a new crew to train. I have plenty, but one that barks is better...  :)

View PostFasteroid, on 19 March 2017 - 04:25 AM, said:

Exactly.

So why the hell would you want the rudy as a crew trainer when you have the T-34/88 at all;?

I have been running them back to back as they play virtually identically. I really don't need another x2 - so I see your point, you are kind of correct. However DustyHooves nailed it. One of them barks!!! That still isn't getting old. I made a fuss about how easy it would be to make it bark that it would have been churlish to not get it after WG went to the trouble to do it. Neither PC nor Blitz have a 100% working bark...

As for which is better, the only downside I notice is that Rudy aimtime. They play very similarly so you adapt between them automatically. The increased view range on Rudy helps against tier 8s and for assists when your damage is lower than the 88. I'm ignoring the training bonus and dual nation, the same as the dog as they are unfair comparisons. You either want them just for that alone, or you don't.

YMMV - I hope it helps.  :)

This. Until we get Oddball and his two dog impressions I'm going to have to settle for barking Soviet tanks. :)

The ONLY reason I got the Rudy is because of my recent gold deposit. I could care less about the crews being at 100%. Isn't that what premium tanks are for anyways?

I think the Op has clearly underestimated the power of a barking Dog as a crew member....now we just need a German Scout Tank that meows when spotted and  purrs when the camo net goes up

Fear... It is something vital to us puny creatures. The instant man stops fearing is the instant the species reaches a dead end, only to sink to pitable lows, only to sit and wait apathetically for extinction. Humans who lose the ability to think become creatures whose existance has no value. Wake up! Don't be afraid of knowledge! Think, you humans who are split into two worlds, unless you want the gulf between humans to expand into oblivian, you must think! Signed, Schwarzwald.

I'm most certainly getting both when their cheapest bundles come out.

Still deciding if I should get one of those soviet premium TDs. Or the Jagdtiger 88. Or even he RAM II.
