I don't think the IS-7 is as bad as people make it out to be. It can easily block in excess of 5k dmg if used correctly and the relatively low dpm is there to balance that out. The penetration on the other hand? That is another story entirely...

Brawling with, say, a Maus in the IS-7 is pure attrition. Fair enough, that's the way it should be - the Maus is heavily armored, and so is the IS-7. However, when that Maus turns his turret sideways at less than 50 meters, giving you a practically flat surface to shoot at, it should not be impossible to pen. Making mistakes should be punishable, but in the Maus, well, they aren't so much. Actually, I should rephrase that: In the IS-7 you can't punish another super heavy when he makes mistakes.

I've seen threads with ideas massively detatched from reality, arguing that the IS-7 needs anything from a mobility boost, to armour buffs and ludicrous dpm values. Buffs which, if implemented, would make the IS-7 another broken noob-machine beyond recognition. That is not what I'm saying. Firstly, we don't want any more broken tanks ingame. Secondly, the IS-7 is a very good tank as it is, if only the driver has but half a clue about what to do with it. The only thing this thing needs is a penetration buff of 10-20mm. I much prefer consistency over high dpm in a brawl, so perhaps the alpha could be nerfed slightly, though I don't think leaving the alpha as is would make it OP. The low dpm, sluggish gun, and bad traverse values are all there to balance out the heavy armour, but if you can't get your gun to punish another heavy tank when he makes brawling mistakes, when then all that armour is kind of moot. Again, I'm not saying the IS-7 should be able to pen anything frontally without even aiming for weakspots, just a enough to make it a little bit more competitive.

Better ground resistance values and slightly more accurate gun (from 0.40>0.38) and it would be just fine.

Increasing accuracy would just encourage even more IS-7 camping than is already going on. It's a close quarter brawler, not a medium range support tank: Fair enough, you think it should have better ground resistance. Personally, I disagree. I would not do any better in my IS-7 if it had better mobility. Sure, it would ease some of its drawbacks, but again: it is a heavy tank, not a medium, and what it is lacking is competitiveness in brawls. I don't see what increased mobility would be good for, other than making the IS-7 into more of a heavium, which i don't think the game needs more of. Wanna play heavy medium? Get a T-62 or 121... :great:

The IS 7 is fine. I don't think it even needs a buff, it's fast as hell, good fire rate for a tier 10 and very well armoured.

A small ground resistance buff and a penetration buff to 260/315.

I'm fine with it as is tbh.

If I had to buff something on it tho..I think i'd go with it's HP. It's the lowest among all Tier X Heavies I believe.

250 extra HP would be nice.

Again, the low HP pool is there to balance out the near impenetrable armour when hull down. Increasing its ability to survive the hits that do penetrate would be pushing it towards overpoweredness. Despite my reluctance, I could probably get onboard with the ground resistance thing as well, since that wouldn't be doing a very big difference. But by all means, let us have that damned penetration buff! Pretty please WG, Christmas is known to have come early before... ;)

It does struggle with some armour till you switch to APCR.Then it does just fine. It's the fragile ammo rack that bothers me more than pen.

OP..seriously lol? I strongly disagree.

A little extra HP would just help an make it a little more competitive. With all the Tier X TD's, Arty, and other OP tanks running around...that wouldn't be a bad thing.

Far from OP.

I struggle against the IS-7. I know the weak spots, but still struggle against that tank.

Directly from my comment it the SinZ video:

The IS-7 in my opinion needs:

Alpha Damage: 490 > 500 (Base value)
Rate of Fire: 4.38 > 4.40 (Base value)
DPM: 2145.99 > 2200 (Base value - same as the IS4)

Gun Hanling:  (Effective Values)

Aim Time:............ 2.97 > 2.01 (Same as the ISU-130)

Dispersion:.......... 0.38 > 0.37 (Same as the ISU-130)
... when moving:..0.18 > 0.17 (same as the T110E5)
... tank traverse:..0.18 > 0.17  (same as the T110E5)

Gun Depression: -6 > -7 (Better use of the turret armor; -1 less than the T110E5)

Mobility: (Effective Values)

Terrain Restistance
Hard:........1.25 > 1.00
Medium:..1.73 > 1.05
Soft:.........2.97 > 2.20
(Better than the T110E5, balancing the 15.40 P/W ratio vs the 16.28 P/W of the E5)

For deciding this I decided to compare:
IS7 - T110E5 - ISU130 - IS4 - 113

It needs better DPM that's it. The pen is fine, APCR goes through E100's turret face.

It would also perform better if the TDs were adjusted a bit. Right now they can just load gold to completely ignore his armor and blap half of his HP away in one shot.

I don't feel it needs one to be fair. It could use slightly better accuracy and that's it. It is basically a Heavy Murder Medium that face hugs like a boss.

I dunno what kind of APCR you're firing. In my IS-7 APCR does feck all to an E-100's face... :great:

Aim better when it's showing it's flat side. The IS-7 really is fin. The gun handling could be slightly better and maybe the upper plate so the ammo rack doesn't keep getting messed up by Tier 10 TD's.

Turret ring is 100% and turret face is 80% chance to pen.  He has to be looking at you obviously.

WOTINFO statistical analysis currently has it rated as the worst performing tier X heavy on console.  So I don't know about all the "IS-7 is fine/OP/is a boss" conclusions.

Yep, needs a buff to DPM and/or high tier TD balancing.
