Having been in a really similar situation with my T34-88, I would say: Don't be overly aggressive and try to do everything yourself. Manage your HP wisely, the more you're in the game, the bigger the chance for damage, if you're the tank doing the spotting, try not to over-commit for unfavorable trades, the most important thing is to keep yourself in the game and keep having high total damage games. If your with a group and find an isolated enemy, track him instead of going for a damage shot (spool wheels are the best, because they add damage), that way you can profit from the assisted damage of 3 or 4 team shots.

It's a frustrating experience, especially because a very bad game can wipe a couple of good games, so in the next game you go in with a "have to have super game" and usually risk too much. Just try to keep a level head and be consistent.

Playing in platoon usually helps, since at least you reduce the chances of being yollowed and can use team's health pool to your advantage.

The same way most people try to 3 star a tank, GOLD ROUNDS. And I mean at least half of your ammo is gold.
