For those of you with experience with both these tanks, I'm curious which you think is better. I've been having alot of fun playing the M46 Patton and am wondering if the M48 after it is worth it, or if I'm better off buying back my Centurion AX. How do the two compare to each other in game? From the stats of both, it seems like they both have somewhat bouncy frontal armor and similar speed/mobility, with the CAX being better at sniping and the M48 being better at flanking/playing second line support, but I realize far stats aren't everything. So, which is better?

I'm sure Ready2Die will be here shortly...

Over 9k battles in it (Patton) so he could point out some reasonable bias.

I have no insight or valuable input here, but damn do Marks of Excellence look EPIC on the AX's fume extractor! Last night I saw one with two stripes over that solid Hunter Green camo... SO sick.

I don't think it's trash, but I didn't get on with it either. I sold it and kept the Mark 9.

Just bought the Patton, and the two things I miss most, that the AX has. Speed and Concealment.

M48 Patton for me hands down. What I dislike about the CAX is huge hull made out of paper and the fact that it can't snap shot. I'm much more comfortable playing aggressively in my Patton, and if I want to snipe I'd rather play Leopard 1 instead of CAX.

M48 is more of close to medium range tank, while the CAX is beter at medium to long range.

M48's troll armor makes it good at the frontlinie, spotting and supporting the heavys. The great aimtime makes the tank great in snapping in shots when tanks are reloading.

CAX has a langer aimtime but more acccuracy and camouflage that makes the tank very effectieve from the second and third line. It can also do some spotting, but when you end up in a frontline brawl, it won't hold like the M48 would.

When the 2 meet in a medium range situation it would come down to the skill of the driver.

Hit points are to be used!

M48 Patton is amazing. One of the best mediums in the game. The gun is very reliable and the DPM is excellent. I didn't care for the AX.

Before the recent gun buffs I would have said CAX hands down. Now it's too close to call performance wise for me. I love the M48 because it's both the first tier X I got and it is what a tank was when I was growing up but the height of the thing especially with the giant pointless cupola still hampers its ridge fighting and cover taking ability.

If if we ever get a true M48A5 without the cupola I'll go with that. Until then I have to go with the CAX.

I hope to one day be wealthy enough to be considered eccentric rather than just plain nuts.

It seems like the Centurion AX is generally seen as better, but I would like to ask a couple questions. One, how do the armor on the two compare? One thing I didn't like about the Centurion AXwais how weak the armor felt. And two, is the grind on the M48 Patton very bad, or does that first 105mm gun work fine on it?

I don't know about the Patton, but don't get shot in the AX. At all. You may get the odd bounce here and there, but it's basically paper. Also, the front of the tank is constructed entirely of exposed ammunition packed tightly with gun cotton and flint. You will be ammo racked frequently.
