You made some odd decisions about whom to promote into creative leadership positions.... one particular art lead (in HV) who comes to mind was inexperienced, disorganized, NOT very talented, and was NOT well-respected by most in BOTH offices.

I am both sad and sorry to say, my faith in our company's future was severely rattled when I had to watch as some of our most talented, hard-working, and DEDICATED people either LEFT in frustration (off to work for our competitors) while a few others (who, while frustrated, still inexplicably had enthusiasm and loyalty for us) were thrown under the bus by the talentless hacks in HV.

 

Here is another

 

I worked at Day 1 Studios full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

This studio in 2005 had an amazing group of talented and veteran developers. Tons of potential and several irons in the fire (titles.) It was great place to be, there were great parties and work events, and helpful, talented co-workers accompanied by high morale. The president was able to secure cool and fun game contracts much better than many other small local developers.

Cons

Due to poor upper management, most of what was good is now a hollow shell of what it once was. Nearly all the real talent has either left or been laid off or fired, and there isn't much left. By putting in charge poor and ill equipped managers that are not or were not qualified to run different aspects of the team it has resulted in failure multiple times over.

Advice to Management

It doesn't work to have novices to the industry, or people with no experience manage veterans. Promote people based on their ability, tenure and experience not on how much they kiss up. Recognize real talent and reward it! It's not hard, re-evaluate your priorities.

 

Look WG I know you mean well but according to these reviews  there is something wrong there has to be

I am a Day 1 Studios employee (now wargaming) and I have been working for the developer studio for 7.5 years now and my experience has been nothing but awesome.  The people here are my family.  I have worked for other gaming companies like Nintendo, The Pokemon Company, Phosphor games, among others, and I can tell you that working for Day 1 Studios/Wargaming is awesome and I wouldn't change it for the world :)

 

Since you are getting an answer from someone who has worked here for almost 8 years, I can consider this post resolved.

I don't know, taking out half the maps in the game without any idea of when they'll be put back in seems to fit the OP pretty well :amazed:

I was off of the forums for a while, so I might have missed something, but isn't the lack of maps due more to the limits of the 360 than anything else?  I know some maps have dropped, but some others have been added, so I'm not sure if I have this right or not.

Yep, do to 360 limits, and we've gotten 1 new map to replace them in two months that barely comes up in the rotation (from what I've heard, after playing for the last earn op, I'm taking a well earned break until the map rotation for the day is more than 3-4).

 

Not a good trade, and the fact that after all this time there is still no answer other than "we don't know when they'll be back" is really a load of bollocks. After all this time there should be some indication of when at least some of those maps can be brought back in, especially as WG continues to shoot themselves in the foot by saying they'll support the reason those maps were removed as long as MS does.

Do you work in actual development? Most of those reviews came from people who worked within development one of the most crucial parts of any game company.

I didn't know they dropped more than they added.  I have only been playing a little bit lately.  I was burnt out for a while.  As far as the support goes, I'd bet pretty much all of my money that they are contractually obligated to support the other platform for as long as MS does, so I'm guessing there is not much they can do.

I keep hearing that, and I find it hard to believe that any company with any sense would get themselves cornered into such a deal. If they did then they still deserve some of the flak they get.

If you remember back at the beginning, I think MS owned part of the console version of this game.  They used to be credited when the game booted anyway (Microsoft Studios).  It wasn't until that partnership ended that the game was launched on Playstation.

They have a potential problem with the PS4. Unlike Xbox PS4 has 2 direct competitors, war thunder and soon armored warfare. To artificially limit the games potential when it has direct competition based on parity with an outdated console is flat out bad buisness.
