Because for three years the community has been asking for dates on various things such as regular balance updates and content drops and a simple "couple of months, maybe" might actually be a nice gesture of good faith, and sign that they're smart enough to know how well they keep their own game in line? You know, like actual competent development teams have been doing for years now...

Maybe it's just because I'm old and come from the days when the game shipped, that was it, you weren't getting new content or balance changes.  Also, you had no contact with developers.  I think WG makes a really good effort to keep people informed when they are able to

I clearly keep myself more informed than you have. I follow this team and other WG teams and products pretty damn closely, and it's hilarious how people can look at how open other WG offices are (and keep up with their own goals) and yet look at how insulated this team is and think it's normal. Just today I translated a Q&A from the WoT PC team and they have no fear about talking long term goals and things they're experimenting with. And you know what? They have hundreds of times as many players as we do, and they do it without handing out clown car tanks just for showing up.

Maybe, just maybe, they can't keep people informed because they have no clue what they're doing and when things will be ready? Food for thought.

WG does not fall under that genre because they charge premium time and hell they charge $110 NZD for 1-year premium account, it's nearly the price of two AAA games.

This game is not free for most of us here on the forum. I do not regret spending the money I have spent and I have spent a lot. But I do expect a certain standard and right now there are a few issues with the game that the de sims does not seem interested in solving. Please tell us the truth about the missing maps!? Please tell us when you plan to release the Swedish tanks, it cannot be that hard since the tanks already exist on PC..? And lastly, tell us the prices for tanks and bundles at least a week before release so we know how to spend our gold. Thank you.

I was off of the forums for a while, so I might have missed something, but isn't the lack of maps due more to the limits of the 360 than anything else?  I know some maps have dropped, but some others have been added, so I'm not sure if I have this right or not.

360 played all the previous maps and plays all the new maps

so that kind of thinking is daft

the reality is most of the maps people are complaining are gone were also removed on PC

Maps come and go people

get over it

Ok, so why would corporate have one successful product, then look at the product that isn't is successful but 90% identical and tell them to keep doing crap that's proven unpopular? Last I checked even the corporate giants of videogame development have enough sense to try to correct things that aren't popular ( I mean do you think Activision is having it's devs drop futuristic jet-pack laden Call of Duty games for giggles?)

Maybe instead of some grand corporate conspiracy of self sabotage, it's a simple fact of our devs having no real clue what they're doing and stumbling over themselves trying to through things day by day?

Our game is not competitive. Our game is geared for the casual player to hang out with friends, have some beers and shoot things. There is a district choice WG has made to keep this game dumbed down for console players. It's been like that from day one. Packages vs modules. That was the original model pushed from WG. Maybe if it took off more it could have been more, but it didn't. We were a F2P knife trying to break into the AAA title ecosystem of console.

Large amounts of OP premium tanks pulled from release on PC get released here many times, especially at lower tiers. They messed up low tier balance to sell OP seal clubbers because we're a casual platform. We might not be as casual as Blitz, but we're the mid point.

They've realized that they messed up and turned off new players, but they don't want to piss off money cow older players who like casually killing in their seal clubbers.  So we get proving grounds and war stories with Co-op mentor ops to try to get new blood in the game past tier 3.

It seems to me that they had a certain amount of revenue that corporate needed to see from premium sales, so they pulled out all the stops to make that happen. They brought out low tier premium tanks that killed low tier balance, then started doing it to higher tiers. Now they've squeezed that cash cow as much as they can,  but it's had negative effects on long term game survivability. That smacks of short sighted corporate squeezing of the bottom line.

My main point is that we don't know how much of the issue is our developer, or how much is our developer reacting to the set of goals pushed on them above.  We'll never know.

PC has a competitive scene. Real competitive players from console will move to PC because our game is not competitively focused. They let our amazingly dedicated players organize their own competitive scene, and support it with prizes. But they aren't organizing anything on the order of Clan Wars or Pro Gaming on console. We don't have the playerbase for that anymore.  Maybe it was possible once, but it didn't take off for many of the reasons I list above.

We're the stepping stone to PC for competitive players.  We're left with our own group of very dedicated folks to put on their own competitive scene, with support for prizes. But that's it. At this point in the life of the game, we're a casual game on console. I don't see that changing.

Pain literally stated in his last stream that the 360 is full up and they've had to remove stuff until they can figure out to simplify the maps.

We have had the pleasure of working with several different WG employees over the years in WCT/WCL.  I'm still in contact with some even after they've left the company for various reasons.  I have seen those who truly enjoy(ed) working at WG and those who clearly did not.  I see a similar mix to what I see at most companies.

I wouldn't count the Console competitive scene out so quickly.  Having worked with WG on the front lines of that battle for about 2 years now, I can tell you that WG are definitely not giving up on it.  We are just starting to see the tip of the iceberg as the new competitive modes arrive.  It has taken far longer to get going than WG had hoped, for a variety of reasons which are not appropriate to discuss here.  WG are keenly aware of the delays.  It took several years for the PC competitive scene to become well established and sorted out technically and logistically.  It will likely take a similar time frame here.

Regarding the OP, I have seen some common corporate issues as I've worked with WG staff, but I have also seen an active effort to try to correct many of those issues.  IMO, the fact that I, as an outsider, can see the positive results of some of their policy changes is a good thing.  No, I'm not going to get any more specific.  That would be inappropriate.

Nobody is going to tell their studio to fail, but there's plenty of companies that are short sighted with their goals for their divisions. If corporate WG is so great, then you'd think they'd make major changes to a division that is failing as hard as you seem to see WGCB failing.
