Hello Fellow Tankers,

Before I start, I would just like to mention that I am an average player (50% WR). I have been playing for 2 years so I am not a noob but just play for fun in my spare time. I hold many tanks in my garage and just try to get the double bonus for each tank I have, every night or weekend I can play. I switch tanks every game unless I lose. So that happens 50% of the time. I run about 10 tanks currently. Everything, Arty, TD, Heavy and Mediums - just no lights

So I recently I got my tier 10 Chieftain after the pleasant grind in the conqueror. However the playstyle seems to be completely different from tier 9 to tier 10.  I know I am just getting used to these tiers but the fact remains that the playstyle is something I don't recognize.

As the clock ticks down to "go time" I look over my heats maps for the current map before the game starts. I see where as a heavy I should most likely be unless the team decides to be contrarian and push the other side. In that case I readjust or just protect the flank that is not pushing. However, it seems that neither side is pushing. At first I thought ppl where just slow off the starting block (which they are). But as the game goes on I notice that they never intended to leave the base in the first place. The top tier tanks just hover a couple hundred yards away from the base hiding behind a rock and trying to snipe like a TD. By this time, I am meeting the enemy and calling for help. I stop multiple times to let my team catch up. Some have joined me but most are still behind a rock or building back at base. I feel like we are in "battle tanks' and should probably "go to battle". If you don't want to fight, why play WOT? Seems cowardly. Plus if everyone did this, each team would just sit at their own bases for an hour and nothing would happen. Talk about boring. I cant sit in a half hour game with nothing happening, it kills me knowing I have a wonderful tank that can reek havoc. So I push and try to open up their flank. Just like the strategy in the other 9 tiers. Maybe 4-5 others do the same and sometimes more. But most of the heavies are actually behind the TD's.  (always thought that was weird). So we die, the enemy comes to our base and finishes off the rest of the team that is hiding behind the rocks and buildings. They typically get one or two shots off and die.

So now that you have the context let me ask:

-- Is the playstyle for tier 10 what it appears to be. Should I be base camping? ( I hate asking that) Am I the stupid one that is out attacking? It just seems dreadfully boring to me and don't see why anyone would want to postpone destruction for a drawn out game knowing WE WILL FIGHT AT SOME POINT, NOW OR LATER. Why spend half you Sunday just waiting for the game to start? Then 3 minutes later its all over with a loss.

I haven't gotten too many games in the chieftain, mainly because I like the tank but not the tier playstyle and find it boring and time consuming (only so many hours in a weekend). Its like a trophy. I do have many games in the Conquer and notice that even T9 games are significantly different and ppl. attack. If you would be so kind, please let me know the consensus view. I have read a lot of forums where ppl say that ppl should not base camp at tier 10. But if that is the case then why is everyone doing it? I am grinding my way up the Russian and French lines now (also about to get the FV215b) and don't know if I want to take them to T10 if this is gonna be the case. Just more nice looking trophies.

To camp or not to camp. I know the answer I want to hear, but I don't know if it is the correct answer for staying alive and thriving in tier 10. I know this topic can cause anger for ppl, but please know I am just looking for what is going to work, not looking to make judgements. Thank you for your help fellas.

Many of us don't play tier 10, it's the worst gameplay and always has been.

Don't camp, but don't go off alone either, you must find balance in the force. Not many games where everybody sits back, so you can usually back up somebody that is pushing. Probably is more camping at tierX because of the punishing TD's, arty, and auto-loaders. Mistakes at higher tiers tend to get punished more.

Damn the torpedoes.........full speed ahead!

Tier 10 is basically a WORSE tier 3 match, except noobs get bigger guns and more HP.

If you want to succeed at tier 10, you need a platoon, or else you will be rushed by noobs, just like low tiers lol.

This is good advice.

Don't push by yourself. Don't scout where there are no Green shooters, etc.

That's wickedly funny. I often ask myself that same question.

Or after doing nothing for five minutes they are winning because some Green WN8 hotshot racked up a few kills and all they have to do is go play clean-up but they still sit there and do absolutely nothing, in sheer terror of Red tanks already accounted for on the other side of the map.

That's all it is. Total fear. People are terrified.

Also, they can't count tanks on a map. If they learned how to count they might not be so petrified.

Only played a couple dozen tier ten matches, so not nearly enough to get good. That said, it was not fun at all! I'm going to bank to lower tiers (can't decide if I like 7, 8, or 9 the best).

Cheese Loaded!

Why though? Is it because of what I mentioned in my post or other reasons?

Should I encourage others to move or just expect this to be the case? Is base camping a valid strategy? If you are going to get blown up, you are going to get blown up. Weather it is during combat or when they come to finish off the campers. Combat can be punishing. And it can be rewarding when you win. About half and half with my record. What are these players worried about. I know if I need some coin, I get in my Mutant and get 100k each game.

interesting.....I figured ppl had to earn these tanks and the most experienced would be in tier 10 along with the best strategies. Can you get premium 10s?

you don't need to spam premium in the Chieftain.

Op, abuse it's gun depression and rate of fire. Rest has a good guide I believe .

oh I don't go off alone. I just start before everyone else gets done with their porn. lol. I assume that tanks will travel to the heat boxes but do fall back on many occasions when I realize no one is coming. So if I see base camping then I should camp as well?

You can "buy" any tier tank you want. All you have to do is trade gold for XP in order to get the next tank. I think someone told me once it costs like $250-300 for a tier 10.

I might have to leave tier 10 then cause I am not a big fan of platooning. Kind of run at my own pace with my long list of tanks and just trying to get the double bonuses. That doesn't work well with platooning it seems

That's true. Forgot about that method. THATS A LOT OF MONEY for a virtual tank!

Good review. Thanks for the heads up! Is it affordable to be spamming prem? Is their a decent payoff or will you always loose money if spamming?

hahaha. So true. Why have a tank if you don't want to battle in it? They are good looking machines but they look even better preforming their main role. DEALING DEATH.

I guess you could free XP it but it has to come from somewhere that's true. So they have experience at least.
