Hello tankers,

I'm going through my tickets and I noticed I have 1 ticket open that has 1 single flag suggestions.  I don't want to close it so if you have any more flag suggestions, please post them in here.  I will be generating 1 ticket a month with all the suggestions made within that time.

Please keep the flag suggestions moderate and relateable.  No flags with any sort of hateful references of ANY kind.  I will moderate those posts.  I'm cat watching you.

Please post:

  • Picture of the flag
  • Meaning of the flag and what it represents
  • Why you want then flag in game

Thanks!!

The Britannian flag resembles the St. George's Cross, the flag of England, warped with the Union Flag of the United Kingdom. It bears a unique coat-of-arms. On the coat-of-arms, the lion represents royalty (or the Emperor) while the serpent represents "death and rebirth".

I just wanted a flag, I'd spend gold on

We already have the Scottish Saltire (St. Andrews Cross) flag in-game, but would it be possible to also get the Scottish "Lion Rampant" flag added?

Here's the Wiki article explaining what it is.

https://en.wikipedia...ner_of_Scotland

It'd be nice to be able to put the Saltire on one side of the tank and the Lion Rampant on the other.

Also, I think it may have been requested before, but could we get the military service branch flags added in-game?

I don't think an explanation is needed on what they are and why we'd want them.

Thanks.  :honoring:

Another flag that really shouldn't need an explanation, but the national flag of Palestine. Kind of weird that it's not already in there.

Edit: As for "why it should be in the game," again, it's just kind of weird that it's not already in there, considering we have relatively obscure coats-of-arms, and local flags for states, provinces, and districts, but not the flag of an internationally recognized nation.

Royal Newfoundland Regiment

The Royal Newfoundland Regiment (R NFLD R) is a Primary Reserve infantry regiment of the Canadian Army. It is part of the 5th Canadian Division's 37 Canadian Brigade Group.

would be cool to have in the game because

First World War HonoursEdit

Governor Davidson strongly felt that the Newfoundland Regiment deserved special recognition for its actions during the battles of Ypres and Cambrai. His request to the British Government to add the prefix Royal to the regiment's name was granted and George V bestowed the regiment with the prefix in December 1917.[30] This was the only time during the First World War that this honour was given and only the third time in the history of the British Army that it has been given during a time of war.[31]

More current, and overall more UK military flags adds a sense of respect & pride for me, especially when emblazoned on the UK tanks.

Non-ceremonial British Army flag (1938), encompassing non-Royal Army representation as a whole, dating back to the civil war. The Union flag is still the ceremonial counter.

The flag of the Royal Armoured Corps. Representing the descendants of the cavalry regiments & of the Royal Tank Corps during WW1. It also encompasses a plethora of current regiments such as the Household Cavalry as well as the Royal Tank Regiment...

May as well include that flag also, being the oldest tank unit in the world and this one comes with a story;

The colours typified the struggle of the Corps - 'From mud, through blood to the green fields beyond'. This most apt interpretation of the colours was suggested by Colonel Fuller. The flag is flown with the green uppermost.

Yeah! also where is the flag of north korea? You think that would also be in game.

if you aren't gonna put the north korean flag, then at least put the unified korean flag when the north gets defeated

Someone's got almost as big a chip on their shoulder as me. They've got a flag for the USSR (a confederation that no longer exists), Taiwan (a country that fewer than six other nations recognize as independent because of China's "One China" policy), a flag for Canada that went out of use in the late 50's, and as I mentioned, a bunch of obscure coats-of-arms. So WG clearly doesn't have a very discerning eye for politics. And with people demanding that WG "put aside politics" and add an Israeli tank line, why not "put aside politics" and throw in the flag for a country that 1.) still exists, and 2.) is recognized by the majority of the world.

While we're at it, WG is also lacking flags for Egypt, Iran, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, and Qatar. If they wanted to really outdo themselves, they'd throw in the state flags for Los Estados de Mexico and the Vatican, but hey, let's start small, or rather, large and just go with some of the nations they're missing. I mentioned and posted a picture for Palestine. You wanna go ahead and post some for the rest? Or just the ones you agree with?

Old-School Germany:

Here are a few German flags from the pre-Weimar era that I'd love to see added.

First of all, the majestic War Flag of the Second Reich:

Spoiler

This flag was flown during times of war by the Second Reich, which was the empire that was formed when the many kingdoms of the German Confederation were unified under the rule of the Prussian monarchy. This version in particular was flown during World War One, and was chosen as the war flag by Kaiser Wilhelm II to replace a similar older design. The black eagle of the Prussian monarchy is featured prominently in the center, and the quadrilateral is the peacetime national flag emblazoned with an iron cross.

Here is the German national flag of the Second Reich, peacetime version:

Spoiler

A simple yet elegant and beautiful design consisting of horizontal black, white, and red bars, this was the official national flag flown during times of peace. The design was made by combining the Prussian colors (black and white) with the colors of the Hanseatic States (red and white). While it features no insignia or emblems of any kind, there was a naval version that featured a large black iron cross in the center.

WG could also implement the flags of the German kingdoms. There are many, so I'll just post my favorite, the flag of the Kingdom of Prussia:

Spoiler

This was the official state flag of Prussia from 1892-1918. The Prussian Eagle (which should look familiar by now) is featured very prominently. The intertwined FR on the eagle's chest stands for Fridericus Rex (Frederick the Great), a great Prussian king who earned his title due to his military genius. There are many other flags of the various German kingdoms, many of them very cool-looking, but I don't have time to post them all.

The Austro-Hungarian Dual Monarchy:

Here is the national flag of the Dual Monarchy of Austria-Hungary, a nation that is... exactly what it sounds like.

Spoiler

Due to some complicated political deals, Kaiser Franz I of Austria ended up being the ruler of two kingdoms at the same time (he was apparently too cool for just one kingdom). The flag itself is just the red/white/red flag of Austria fused with the red/white/green flag of Hungary, with each half emblazoned with its respective royal coat-of-arms. Austria-Hungary was Imperial Germany's closest ally during WW1, and allegedly the nation that sparked the war when they tried to apprehend a Serbian assassin who was responsible for assassinating the Austrian archduke Franz Ferdinand (a relative of the Kaiser). This set into motion the complex chain of events that resulted in the war. The two nations were separated after the war ended.

Central American Revolutionaries:

Here is the party flag of the FSLN (Frente Sandinista de Liberacion Nacional [Sandinista National Liberation Front]), a group of communist Nicaraguan freedom fighters that became a political party after liberating their homeland:

Spoiler

The FSLN, backed by the Soviet Union, successfully freed their homeland of Nicaragua from the extremely oppressive and tyrannical Somoza regime (a regime that was, embarrassingly, backed by the United States) during the Cold War. After liberation they instituted a variety of reforms, including environmental clean-up, education, and a multi-party political system with democratic elections (they themselves becoming the communist party).

Native American Nations:

WG could also implement the national flags of the various Native American tribal nations. There are many of these as well, so for now I'll just post the one I have blood ties to, the flag of the Cherokee Nation:

Spoiler

The seven-pointed star on the central seal stands for the seven Cherokee clans. The wreath represents the sacred fire of the Cherokee. The seven yellow stars outside the seal also represent the Cherokee clans, with the lone black star in the corner representing the all of the Cherokee who died on the Trail of Tears.

The potential problem with using either of the flags associated with the Second Reich is that both are classified as hate symbols by the ADL. In a reactionary movement to the banning of the Swastika and other symbols of the Nazi regime, many Nazi sympathizers, neo-Nazis, and Antisemites fell back on using the flags of the Second Reich. As a result, flags associated with that time period were added to the list of hate symbols.

Now, that's not saying that WG can't or shouldn't include any of those flags, but I feel this is a bit of extra information that they should factor into whatever decision they might make.

The Dominican flag is in the game but if you could add the Dominican coat of arms it would add another option.  It also has more detail and adds greater impact to a tank turret than the flag.

Wow, those special skinflakes sure have a way of ruining things for sane people, don't they? The Second Reich wasn't any more or less racist than any other nation on earth during that time period. I've listened to one of Kaiser Wilhelm II's speeches, he specifically thanks the honorable races (plural) of the German Empire. Doesn't sound like a racist leader to me. It really sickens me to hear that symbols of that time are being appropriated by skinflakes. I have mixed German and Cherokee heritage, and have both the Cherokee flag and two examples of the flags of the Second Reich displayed. None of those flags are coming down, ignorant mother******s be damned.

Any flag can be seen as a hate symbol depending on where in the world you live. You know that star-spangled banner flying above all the American tanks in the garage? A variant of that was flown by the administrations that marched my Cherokee ancestors on the death-march known as the Trail of Tears, as well as drove the other native tribes off their lands and either put them in reservations or slaughtered them. That's why I won't have the American flag on anything I own. But if other people want to use or fly the American flag, I'm fine with that. People in nations such as Nicaragua, which was abused terribly by the US, don't have very high opinions of that flag either. Yet still it stays in the game, featured very prominently.

Plus if WG refused to put the Second Reich flags in the game based on some sort of illusory moral high ground, they'd be hypocrites because they still have that Nazi flag flying above all German tanks. And it's a Nazi flag regardless of what symbol they chose to put in the center, because the rest of the flag is a nearly exact copy of the Kriegsmarine flag flown by Nazi warships. If they weren't trying to represent the Nazis with it, why did they use a color scheme that only the Nazis used instead of the black and white of the Second Reich version?

Sorry for the long rant, but all the special skinflakes coming out of the woodworks these days and appropriating historical symbols for their own cause are really making my blood boil.

It only takes a few nutjobs to ruin something for everyone else. Personally, I think it's safe for WG to include the Second Reich flag, because the reactionary movement that I mentioned hasn't been as active recently. In fact, I don't think any hate groups have used the Weimar flags since the 60s and 70s. They've mostly gone back to using the flags of the actual Third Reich, as opposed to falling back on the Second Reich. But I did feel I should mention that both those flags you mentioned are still technically listed by the ADL as hate symbols. That said, the ADL doesn't really remove something from their catalogue even after the symbols are no longer associated with hate groups. So even though neither flag is actively used by hate groups, they and other out-of-use symbols are on the ADL's list of potential hate symbols.

The Weimar flag itself (but not the battle flag for some reason) was temporarily illegal in some of the countries that also outlaws the Nazi flags, but many of those countries have since struck those laws from the books and it's now legal to fly or display the flag there.
