Leo Tier VII Swedish Medium Tank Review

23261889_2401531466739188_2079885685_o.jpg

I felt this review was necessary as many people on the forums seem to dislike this tank, I am loving it so far and it's quickly becoming my favourite tank.

Overview

This tank has amazing mobility, great gun depression, low profile and a very punchy gun, it's best used for ridgeline fighting and peek-a-boom tactics with the 10cm gun. I use the 10cm because I feel it fits this tanks general playstyle alot better than the 7.5cm.

Armour Profile

download.jpeg

As you can see, the armour won't bounce alot. The turret armour can get some lucky bounces of the top part due to the Porsche-esque turret but you cannot rely on it. The tank has 1,100 HP which is a very good amount given it's playstyle.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Great Mobility

Great gun depression (10 degrees)

High alpha gun

Decent pen for it's tier, only beaten by the 100mm and 107mm guns the Soviets and Chinese get (And the Panther ofc)

Good traverse speeds

Cons:Bad gun handling on the 10cm

Not the best DPM (Although it won't matter too much if you don't trade shots with it)

Only 370 view range, equal second lowest in it's class, only the KV-13 has worse

Non existent armour

How to play it

I highly recommend the 10cm as it gives this tank a unique playstyle, while the 7.5cm makes it a slightly worse Comet. With the 10cm, you use your gun depression and mobility to poke hills and take 300HP chunks out of your enemies before backing away for the (Long) reload. The turret can get some lucky bounces at extreme angles but don't rely on it, your mobility and depression are your strength.

NEVER TRADE SHOTS! You don't have the DPM for this, peek-a-boom distracted enemies over hills and ridgelines or around corners, and use your great reverse speed to quickly back away. Flanking enemies is also a viable tactic due to the versatility of the tank, just make sure you have an escape route planned as the tank is quite big so avoiding shots can be difficult.

Late game, use your mobility and alpha to outflank remaining enemies, you can usually one or two shot them if they're on low health.

Scouting is semi viable in a pinch although it's not recommended.

Equipment and Crew Skills

For equipment, you should run; Gun Rammer, Vents and Gun Rammer. The vents and GLD help you with the gun handling while the GR increases the DPM a little bit.

For Crew skills, i'd recommend prioritising: Sixth Sense, BIA, Smooth Ride, Snapshot, Off Road Driving and then whatever you want

Final Thoughts

Overall, I think this is a very fun and capable tier VII Medium, it's a unique playstyle and I feel it's very competitive, even in tier IX tanks. I would highly recommend this tank to players who love adaptable medium tanks.

Disliked using the 10cm. Having to expose yourself at medium to close range for as long as it takes to aim that thing just to hit what you want is a no no.

Artillery punishes flankers, not campers.

3700+Wn8. 100 tanks with 3 MoE including 29 tier X's on my main account.

Aim time wasn't too bad with GLD and Vents, plus at close range you can shoot without fully aiming

Agreed, very fun tank but I can't decide which gun to stick with unlike the T-44 which also has a choice of a heavier hitting gun that is garbage at the tier its at.

10cm is a better choice imo

It is actually a better Comet with the 75mm.  Better in every way but turret armor,  2 degrees more of Gun depression and 10 meters.for the comet.

Personally thought that the 75mm made it slightly better then the Comet. Yes it has 2 degrees less depression, but better alpha, aimtime, and mobility overall made it feel better for me.
