I loved it, but the Skoda T25 is the Chi-Ri perfected. So I sold the Chi-Ri and kept the Skoda T25.

It has been my most hated tank - even more than the Sturer Emil and duck.
If I wanted to keep a tier 7 medium tank with a 75mil gun, i’d keep either the panther for the accuracy and the pen or the Comet for the turret, manoeuvrability and ROF.

Both are much better tanks..

Agreed.

I actually think the Chi-Ri is the worst tier 7 medium by a long shot.

IMO:

A-44

Comet

T20

Leo

Panther

T-43

In that order.

Personal preference, of course, but the Chi-Ri gets rekt by every above tank.

I enjoyed it more than I expected I would. Plus points include gun depression, burst damage and excellent gun handling. I really enjoyed being constantly underestimated. Punishing aggressive players with the burst damage and pulling back into cover.

The biggest problem is the premium ammo. 186pen AP ammo just doesn't cut it. So many tanks just on tier above you that you can't pen frontaly and your not quite fast enough to escape them.

So while I enjoyed it and may buy it back or try to three mark it someday. It's not a keeper.

I played one game in it and I thought it was fun.  If I had it, I would keep it

It's quite possible I suffer from an undiagnosed mental issue, but I prefer the Chi-Ri to just about every other tier 7 medium I've played so far, including the comet and T20.

I know on paper this it has some of the worst stats of the tier 7 mediums, but for some reason it works. Maybe with some time I'll go back and look at other tier 7 mediums that I had trouble with because I was probably too aggressive in them, or didn't understand the support role as well as I do know.

Nope. Awful thing and doesn't fit with the rest of the line.

I sold it, but I've trained a new crew for the tank for when I do decide to buy it back.

Problem is, I now own the Skoda T 25 and the Strv. 42/57. The Chi-Ri looks somewhat redundant now.

If I had a second Japanese crew I'd've probably kept it, but now that I have the Skoda T25 I don't think I'm going to buy it back.

I got an Ace mastery badge in it when I went thru the line thru tier 8, and later when I started rebuying the tanks I had Aced it was one of them - Perma Camo and fully equipped with binos, camo net, and gun rammer. Run it with the single shot instead of the auto gun. Excellent sniper - and it does teach you to know the maps and not to rely on armor else it suffers badly. Sniping is all I have ever used it for - occasionally you can use the Panther as a medium and flank - but you can't with the Chi-Ri.

I didn't mind the She Wee. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be

I couldn't get past that machinegun sticking out of the side of the turret. Not only are there no vision blocks anywhere near it so no one using it could see what they were shooting at but the damn thing looks like the turret has a mole with one long hair sticking out of it. :)

If it were 20% smaller I think I'd love it.  It's not terrible, but it struggles due to its massive bulk.

Thanks for thread though, just got to over-train crew for move to the Skoda T25 ( which everyone seems to like ) so might do this next.

Cheers MB

There's nothing wrong with you .  The Chi Ri is a fine tank .

there's actually lots wrong with it. Big, slow, no armour, meh camo. The gun is really the only thing it has going, and even that has crappy pen.

Having said all that, I don't hate it. I prefer every other tier 7 medium I've played (panther is arguable), but I seem to always do well when top tier. Against tier 9 it just doesn't

Have the pen or speed to compete imo.  Not a keeper for me, but not a painful grind either.

Keep it? It might be in my own personal Mt Rushmore of tanks. I love it.

^^^ This ^^^

Chi-Ri is nice but not that nice to keep it. Skoda T 25 is "that nice". Basically I've used the T 25 as a trainer before buying Skoda T 40 premium for this. But I'll keep T 25 too.

the Chi-Ri is my favourite tier 7 medium. i used it as close support. if your opponents made a mistake (which they usually did) they got rekt. its one of those tanks that teaches the importance of position and opportunity. every garage should have one.
