First of all I don't mean to stat shame at all as I'm an average player at best. But I have just finished a battle with this guy on my team, it was just us two left against 5 reds and he performed so poorly he caused us to lose when we could have won. I couldn't resist checking his stats to see why and I was shocked, multiple tier 9's with 50+ battles and 0 wn8.

Is this a common theme? After 12k battles and many high tier tanks how can you still be so bad? Is this the frustration many players have with the game? I tend not to care about stats but this guy had me curious because he performed so poorly.

Player in question's stats;

More than likely an afk'er.  WG have taken steps to prevent it and make it less rewarding, but it still happens.

Wow. With stats like that, it is clear that he enjoys being used as target practice.

Could be a little kid but probably a professional AFKer.

We need a new stat WG, average distance traveled per game.

Never thought of that, can you seriously progress that high through the tiers by AFK'ing?

LOL...imagine the scene...like you're all worked up and on your toes trying to kill those reds and this guy is holding controller with one hand and making scrambled eggs with the other...:D

EB: "Normal procedure, Lieutenant, is to jump 200 feet in the air and scatter oneself over a wide area."

You see many people like that on PC thanks to XVM so nothing new to me. There is people with closer to 100k battles with sub 500 wn8 stats

Not always the case...might be disabled person or a child you know...you can't see the real reasons behind it...I allow my kid brother to use my account and play tanks, mainly it's when I can't play and I need someone to get me some points for Earn ops or kill some bonuses...but then his performance is sometimes good and sometimes not...he can't play tier IX and X well...I recommended him Churchill III and CKV-1, but every now and then he takes my tier IX and X out and totally screws it...can't blame him he's 12...

You have not looked at the most important stat - check the avg trees he has cut. If he is an AFK-er - it will be very clear ... crystal clear. Otherwise he is not an AFK-er but just maybe a kid or someone who is not playing seriously etc. (but not necessarily AFK-ing).

That said, I have games lost due to bad action on my part and my WN8 is definitely not 400. Also, I have seen very good players make mistakes and lose games - happens all the time to all kinds of players. There is no way to generalize this as players play for different reasons.

There are plenty of people who don't give a rip what their win rate or WN8 is.   One guy I used to platoon with has 6680 battles and a WN8 of 236.  He was bad at WOT.  He is generally bad a video games, period.  He only made it to tier 9 though, with the M103 and Skill Cannon.  200+ game in the M103, 35% win rate, and I venture a guess that 90%+ of those games were played in a platoon.

Nice guy.  Mechanic for a major airline (so your safety could be in his hands) and he played WOT because his friends did.  They'd drink, roll out 4 Locust and go yolo, or whatever.  They didn't believe in equipment or repair kits, premium ammo etc. Horde and survival modes in games like GoW or Halo were always a blast to play with them.

They all moved to WOT on the XBone (and I didn't), which was probably good because I wasn't sure if I could take too many more really bad platooning sessions.  They have all moved on to other games now.  Even though I lost more when I played with them, I laughed a lot more too.

Not everyone comes to the forums, or has any interest in improving at the game.

Could be Tanking Under the Influence.  That would explain the players I occasionally see who are not AFK - because their tank and turret are moving - but can't seem to get their tank or turret pointed towards the red tank(s) that are shooting them out in the open, spotted, from <100m away.   It's not rubber bands on the joysticks either; their tank moves irregularly.  The best way I can describe it is that their tank seems confused.

Its the nature of console gamers and there is nothing wrong with it. This is the only game I have played on console that some of the playerbase think you should be restricted from play until you git gud. Its rather asinine.

Heck we had drinking games we played with COD and Mech Assault and we played like total crap and it was the most fun I have ever had playing video games.

And this is the same person who will likely blame the game mechanics for their failures.

That's why I always check "Trees cut" when I pull up someone's stats .  Good players will  have several thousand trees cut .

I avoid cutting trees because arty may be watching.  Not that I'm a good player.

Doesn't mean nothing...I took advice from a very good light tanker to cut as much as possible around the place where you're about to ambush or take cover ...cut trees do provide additional foliage cover ...so I'm cutting more than some AFK'ers..:D...ther is no penalty for cutting digital trees...
