For some odd reason I finally got around to French TD's.  Finished the nightmare called the SAu 40, thank you x3 xp ops.  Now the S35 CA has been a barrel of laughs so far. But now I'm at a dilemma. Which gun to stick with, the 17 pounder, or the 90mm. I'll research the 105 to save time on the ARL V39, but I'm not a derp gun guy.

Please tell me the ARL V39 is as much fun.

The 105 is not a derp gun, unless something changed. It's similar to that available on the AMX M4 mle 45.

Edit: just checked. Use the 105. 165mm of penetration with AP,  223mm with APCR and an increase in alpha (330 vs 300).

Interesting. Did not know that. Will have to look more closely.

Thank you.

They're all good guns but I'm sticking with the 105, just have more consistent games with that and if you get found out alot of the time it can remove damaged tanks rushing you with one hit. Not bought the ARLv39 yet but general consensus is it's not as good.

All 3 are great for a tier 5 . You really can't go wrong with any of them .

The ARLv39 is a very good tier 6 TD .  The top gun is great .  I enjoyed the ARL more than the Ammo Tub .

The one problem with the 105 is the reload speed.  If you don't kill your target and they see you', they will bring you down before you can reload.

Personally, I find the fact that you can inflict pretty good hits on Tier VIIs to be worth the trade off.

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

105 with APCR, over 200 pen and 330 alpha at tier V because why not.

For me the 105 was the superior gun, though due to the reload you will have to be more careful with firing from a position where you won't be seen by your target - it's not like you have any armor to speak of for protection.

As for the ARL V39...... some people seem to enjoy it. I hated it. For my tastes the gun is mounted too low, the blister turret on top is too tall, and the frontal armor is too thin to make up for either if the enemy closes within visual range. Your experience may be different.

17 pounder is good stock, but the 105 is damn good for sniping considering a lot of tier 5s you would only need 2 to 3 good shots to knock out a target.

And you only lose 6mm of penetration.

Learn how to corner shot too, and the front can actually troll bounce shells on occasion.

Well, I reckon I'll grind out the 105 tonight then. Appreciate the replies. Just nice to have a French tank I like. I don't tend to mesh with them at all. Currently struggling with the 50 100.

Bathtubs are not well known for their Armoured protection. The 105 however is an evil boomstick. Will reward you for being in the right place at the right time and has for a casemate style TD a ridiculous traverse

17 pounder has to take the top spot on almost any tier 6 or lower for me it's just so damn consistent.

I find consistency can overrule raw power almost every time. If half your shots bounce with the big stick w/the terrible load time while you can shoot twice and do damage both times & still be able to defend yourself if spotted there's no question which gun to use unless the package it's in just downright neuters the tank.

Another honorable mention is the Type 58's top 126pen 85mm vs the higher pen 85mm on the T-34/85. I don't know what tweak the devs gave the 58 but it pens almost every time it hits something in it's pen range. Only tank in the Chinese line I like, I'd add the Type-T34 if they made the gun depression the same as the USSR model. Hitting a bump & missing shots way more w/the Type-T SUCKS.:playing:

105mm is love. Bathtub is OPAF.

This tends to be my opinion as well. I generally favor dpm over alpha.

Example: my skorpion has huge alpha with lowish dpm vs say my Jtig88 with half the alpha, but can get off 2.5 to 3 shots in the same time as the skorpion. Still doing more damage with the Jtig88. Don't quote me on numbers, it's off the cuff.  I like lead downrange.  Just a matter of preference though.

Still, I'm liking the bathtub. I'm gonna explore the options.

Just remember this though, the high alpha guns have to be exposed less to do the same damage.  The trade off with low alpha guns is that they have to continuously expose themselves, while the high alpha guns expose themselves once and do heavy damage and then hide during the reload.  They both have their advantages and disadvantages.  The 105 has the lol factor though, so it's the one I use.

All three choices are a great option depending on your playstyle.

17-lbr is great if you prefer to whittle down your opponents bit by bit with a reliable, high penetration, high accuracy gun.

105mm is great if you like toting around a nice high penetration boomstick and don't mind less dpm or accuracy in trade.

90mm is a good mix between the two with good rate of fire, good damage, highest dpm of the three guns, decent accuracy, but the lowest penetration (135 is still great for a tier 5).

You really can't go wrong with any of them.
