One of the last battles in Europe during WWII was also one of the strangest. A lone Easy 8 Sherman along with a handful of US infantry alongside some German Wehrmacht troops and French high value POWs including the former French PM defended a castle against a Waffen SS Infantry battalion with an 8.8cm flak gun sent to kill the POWs. It's the only known time US soldiers defended a medieval castle from attack. It seems they're making a movie about this due out next year.

That would be an interesting WS alternative history with the Germans winning--not the SS.

"The tenth track of Swedish metal band Sabaton's 2016 album The Last Stand, titled The Last Battle, depicts the events of the battle."  - coincidental or not - that is way cool!

Cool. Really enjoy stories as such from the second world war.
