Also, your list can kinda be difficult to follow sometimes if you’re looking for something specific. You think you could perhaps organize it by tank class, alphabetically, or proposed tier or something if it’s not too much trouble?

I was thinking of doing them by tank class

In the early days of tanking, the tank "classes" were a bit hazy, until they decided to install horse drawn artillery guns onto engine powered chassis...

The Germans were more ingenious in that way, to recycle armament. I would bet this is how the evolution started.

Your probably not wrong about the germans being sufficient in recycling the armament.

Do you think that the class system in game could be better? With say like assault tank and MBT on there own?

I am all for redefining the nomenclature. This is maybe something you should put out for a "poll" in General Discussions. My feeling is that in their vast majority, the players do not really see with a kind eye changes to their habits. Take the occupied cap indicators... we went from a bar fill to a circular one.

It was just a learning curve, I think that nobody is confused anymore. But you do remember how much protests were voiced?

We also have tanks which are classified as "heavy", because of their mass, however, they ill fit their class. Take the AMX 30B for example. This was an MBT; in the game, it is a "medium", so what does it mean?

Bottom line, I don't think WarGaming would be too thrilled to redesign the Tech Tree based on a new classification. This would take a lot of coding effort.

I give you an example; many decades ago, my company created a reporting system to make statistics on accidents, automotive, work, travel, near misses. You get the drift. They created a few categories that you had to choose, and that was it.

After ten years of active reporting, it was clear the category system needed a big overhaul, no longer adapted to the fine tuning that was required.

So we took a look at the amount of work that would be required to redistribute whatever existed in the old system. And that was all we did. It would have been astronomical! not impossible, but costly.

What we did was to create the new classification, for the new reports, and we left the old system as it was. Untouched.

Obviously, that would not work well with WoT&M, having newly issued tanks classified differently than existing ones. I think the "mass" system is probably here to stay.

Yeah I fear that it will, but with the heavily armoured TDs I think they need to be reclassified as assault tanks as the playstyle is completely different to the other tds.

For example the AT series of tanks are not really tank destroyers but heavily armoured Steel boxes of death. If you moved them into a different class as assault tanks then I think more people would play them if they had like a mechanic where it would be next to impossible to track them as they just carried on to the enemy base with fire support coming from all directions.

I'm not a fan of class exclusive perks or bonuses

I think the classification of a tank should have no impact on its performance. Tanks should be balanced to fit the game in the same way all others are. And although class could and probably does influence the approach players take, especially new, there's still examples of tanks that were both considered the same class yet still offer drastically different playstyles, say the AMX 50B vs the Obj. 705A

Although that said I would still prefer your proposal over the current.

The only issue I could see would be that of crew transfers, although it doesn't make much sense why it costs more to switch a crew between classes to begin with. And then of course some people would claim that it would make the game more confusing (more classes to keep track of) it could be a valid point as the game is not known for being noob friendly already, although at the same time it would potentially tell them more about each tank they come across

So if you could pick 5 tanks from the list what would you pick

I am still coalescing on what tanks I would like to get from your list.

By the way, did you participate to the poll on getting an ELC Bis Premium? I would like that! what do you think about it?

yes i did and definitely would like it as a premium tank destroyer. In fact I'll add it to the list

Char 2C is a heavy tank. Or to be more precise an inter war super heavy. To be a td it would need to have the AC or Anti Char designation. Also wheres the B1 Ter in your list. 75mm of armour would be a blessing.

For Russ and the Allfather

B1 Ter is on the list, near the top and the Char 2C I don't know why it's a tank destroyer so I'll change that

If you feel like, you may want to consider using the table function of the BB code included in the tools. The list is very "vertical", so it maybe easier to make it into a table, to get it more "horizontal".

You could make a matrix, with Tier, Tank category, for better visibility.

You mean the AMX Chaffee?

The one that's been in the game for 4 years or something?

I think he is talking about the AMX 13 Chaffee;

This was an upgrade made by the French in 1960, because the M 24 Chaffee was obsolete; so they took the turret and fitted it onto an AMX 13 Chassis;

Unfortunately, we got short changed here, for it already exists: it is one of the Mercenaries: "The Stinger".

To be fair, it was an ideal candidate to become a Mercenary, even if I still think it would have been perfect as Premium tank. I just learned about the Stinger yesterday.

This morning, I enrolled into the contract, because that is one of the few Mercenaries for which I have the required tanks.

What about the CDA Lorraine tank destroyer armed with the long 100mm gun? That actually existed in blueprints and in French tank history.

It's on the list along with the AMX CDA 120mm
