Just curious what the public would pick if they could choose between these two Russian prems and why they picked what they did.

The 13. (Tiger) Kompanie, of Panzer Regiment Großdeutschland, reported on the performance of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56, when their Tigers engaged the T-34: "First round hits were usually achieved at ranges between 800 to 1,000 meters. At these ranges, the Panzer Granate (they are referring to the PzGr. 39 APCBC ammunition) absolutely penetrated through the frontal armor, and usually still destroyed the engine at the rear of the T-34 tank. In 80 percent of the cases, shots from the same range hitting the side of the hull toward the rear of the tank resulted in the fuel tanks exploding. Even at ranges of 1,500 meters and longer, during favorable weather, it is possible to succeed in penetrating the T-34 with minimal expenditure of ammunition" (JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; op. cit.).
3 MoE tanks: T-34, Pz IVH, Tiger I, Pz.Kpfw. T 25, M7, T-50
I picked the Fatherland (IS-3A) because it came out before the Glory IS5. There were a bunch of videos when the Glory launched that compared the 2, I think Cpt. Beardface did a good one on youtube. I think the main differences were armour vs mobility, but they were pretty close. IS-3A doesn't have a loader which makes losing the commander even worse as it kills reload time (I think). On the plus side if you train JoAT skill it should work better on a smaller crew.
I like playing the Fatherland enough to not want to swap to the IS5, but wish it could've had the Glory camo because it looks cooler. I don't think either are quite as good as the Tech Tree IS-3 though. Don't forget the IS-6 gets PMM, so doesn't face tier 10s (which might be a big benefit with a lower battle count). There isn't any rush as they will appear regularly in the store. The only one that won't come back is the Fury.
You haven't mentioned why you have singled out those 2 or 3 tanks. If you are after a solid Russian trainer the KV-220-2 comes into store in a week or so if you don't have a Bogatyr, or better still get the Captured KV-1 from the last Tiger War Story with the 24hr completion discount. They would be more flexible for less trained crews and significantly cheaper.
I hope it helps. .

I loved the movie fury but I got the tech tree easy 8 and I got WAYYY too many mediums. I didnt think about the dead commander thing.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger weaker, but what does kill you makes you smarter.

Honestly the dead commander has only happened once to me, and I had just used my med kit. It isn't a common occurrence, but worth bearing in mind. However with Pain Tolerance and Jack of All Trades, you could save your med kit just for the commander and it would probably work in your favour most of the time.
Good luck with whichever you choose, if you really are on the fence and can't decide then maybe wait to see what new tier 8s arrive in the new year, as I'm pretty sure some are on the way.

I have no idea where that excerpt from wargaming came from about the armor being better than the T-10. Looks like it holds close to the T-10 armor tho
