Longtime lurker first time poster.

As I am getting use to the new lights and their abilities it occurs to me how annoyed I am with their spotting range. It is not just lights but some mediums fall into this category.

Now that I am annoyed doesn' mean I think they are broken or OP. Each has its purpose.

However one thing that really annoys me is a light travelling at 70 mph plus speeds can spot me behind a bush from miles away and I have the skills of camo, camo paint, camo net, green thumb, silent driving in my leopard 1.

So when driving home from work I did a little test. I average 40 mph and tried to pick out details as I am driving down the road. Yes this was a very scientific test, but hopefully you get the point. It was extremely difficult to pick out details. So how is it scouts can do this?

I think spotting range should be reduced by a cerain percentage for every 10 mph a scout is travelling over 40 mph.

For example:

40 mph no change

50 mph 10% reduction in spotting range

60 mph 20%

Etc.

So the faster you travel the less likely you are to spot that tank lurking behind a bush.

Although to give an answer to your scientific test, there's one of you driving, trying to look out for things and concentrate on the road. An average tank has four crew, who generally speaking will all have access to a view port and be on the lookout when in enemy territory.

I can’t live without
So you won’t recognize me
When I am in the crowd

Well, try this on for size. Driving in a dunebuggy, 40 mph over dunes, streams, hills, and valleys, four people (driver occupied with keeping the vehicle on path, three passengers, one deciding where to go while reading Google maps, monitoring what's going on inside and outside the vehicle, one ensuring the load is ready, and the last one messing with a laptop) being jostled about. Another vehicle, 300 meters distant, from the left rear of the dunebuggy, crests a hill for three seconds, and is immediately identified, year make and model. Yep, that's as real as it gets.

I mean, sure, Also, when a tank is beyond your detection range but an ally spots him, now you know which direction his turret is facing.... Conversely, I get irked that I am in my light with every camo and detection perk available and me and the heavy rolling over the hill spot each other simultaneously   Why call them scouts, huh?  I agree with your rationale for realism, but I would love to see the tank classes actually have unique abilities: scouts really have little enough advantage in scouting vs even a heavy, maybe just buff the camo ratings so that, ya, it is hard to spot a tank lurking in the bushes from a hundred meters, unless your tank and crew were specifically designed for scouting.  Kinda like tanks are heavily armoured vehicles, unless facing a gun specifically designed for heavily armoured vehicles, I mean, you aren't surprised when you are in your Maus and you are penned by a Death Star, so you should expect to be spotted by a scout and expect the Medium to roll right past you concentrating on medium tasks....
