You should raise a bug ticket then as no tank can spot another tank 650m away.

fyi, the cap is 445m

Yes.

Mind though, we're talking  about spotting range (445m), not view range.

View range can be much higher.

Any examples of lights having stupid amount of VR?

Isn't 420 the highest (base) there is, right?

Yes, and you can't spot anything over 445m away. Though having higher view range than 445m still works against the opponents camo.

445 is the max distance you can spot a tank.  Your max view range can be higher than this but anything above 445 goes to negate camo etc

and I'm sick of the YOLO light morons running out and spotting 10+ players with their op view range. there used to be consequences for this nonsense

What exactly were the old consequences for this and what has made it change so drastically that they are not being punished for their mistakes? I feel as if you are missing a few pieces to this puzzle. Because if they truly are Yolo scouting then they will be punished by taking large amounts of damage normally costing them their tank entirely that is and always has been the consequences for this so called "nonsense" if the enemy makes a mistake more times then not they will be punished for it. Also having 10+ tanks spotted is not the end of the world I'm afraid to tell you, I'm an avid light tank driver myself and I do not know how many times I have spotted a large number of enemies for none of them to receive any damage from my team, either for the fact of my team missed, the enemies are not in suitable positions to be shot, or the most common is that it is simply too early into the match that neither team is in a position to capitalize on the enemy being detected yet. As many others have already taken the liberty of pointing out that the light tank view ranges are not OP so I won't bother beating that into the dirt more.

Between the huge view range and super small maps, tiers 9 and 10 are unplayable.   The maps are not even suited for tier 10.   This is one of the reasons why I think lots of players just hang around tiers 5-7.   The most balanced tiers, and the maps are suited for these tanks.   Tiers 5-7 excel in this game.

New WoT goals and Thank you WG for providing a game for me to yolo in!

1.   Hit 40% Winrate (highest winrate 60.30%) (Current Winrate 59.66)

2.   Hit sub 400 wn8 (highest wn8 3242.36) (Current wn8 3231.13)

3.   Yolo my way to FV215b 183

4.   being the best at being the worst is still being the best!

How about nerf the speed?  This would enable opfor to punish the yolo's as OP mentioned.    Try shooting one of these speedy little bastards with a fixed turret.

Speed is really one of the only standout traits of the new lights at Tier 10. Lowest DPM in game, armor bordering on par with artillery, view range on par or less than most mediums . you take away speed and then whats the point of even having a tier 10 light ?

15m back from bush and your invisible, also if you have a well set up tank they need to be close to see you. It works as is, but everyone sees too far making the maps feel small.

If it's actually a bush and not a fake bush you mean,

So, you suggest nerfing the only attribute of a light tank that makes them more than simply a bad medium? I'm glad you don't work for WG.

As for the topic the light tanks don't have a base view range any higher than tanks that already existed prior to the update. The M48 Patton already had 420m base view range. So the Sheridans view range is nothing special. Other lights actually have worse view range than the medium tank counterpart line the T-100 LT with 390m view range.

Umm, I don't think it works that way.  AFAIK, the max actual view range of any tank is 445m.  Yes, binos or optics can get the theoretical view ranges out there beyond that, you still won't detect them beyond 445m.  The better your view range is, the closer to that 445 limit you can detect them though.  There's videos describing how the view ranges actually work.

@ Tempest ; @ Warsteiner ...  Ok that was a bit of a troll by me because I have such a hell of a time shooting them.   No Harm, No foul.  a decent light tank driver is such a pain in the behind when they are buzzing around like flies...:honoring:

ever since the light tank update I am getting spotted from ridiculous distances to the point where TD or snipers are not worth playing. The view range at higher tiers is now unreasonable and you can get spotted basically in spawn

so many hills no longer climbable, so many paths of fimits.

and I'm sick of the YOLO light morons running out and spotting 10+ players with their op view range. there used to be consequences for this nonsense

they absolutely gave most high tier lights too much view range, I know they had to or it would have been "just a worse medium" but if that's the case nerf the view range of mediums and heavies and then nerf the view range on lights

Well despite those light tanks with their out of control view range, my Centurion 7/1 is still tops on assisted damage every game.  Maybe you're wrong about what saw you.

445 meters is the max spotting distance as has been stated already here but another thing to remember is Render range. While you can’t spot beyond 445, if you have a friendly tank that is 100m in from of you and he spots an enemy at the 445m view range, you will be able to see it. The Render range is 564m, if my old guy memory is working properly, so you will be able to see enemies beyond the spotting range
