I've heard rumors that the devs on PC want to change the names of the classes of tanks. So instead of having Light, Medium, Heavy, Arty and Tank Destroyers they will instead have.

Assault Tanks, Fire Support Tanks, SPGs, MBTs and Scouts. Would anyone prefer them to be called this or the aforementioned names.

Never change a running system.

Don't see a point in changing the names.

'Don't fix what ain't broke'

They should concentrate on making changes to fix the problems that currently exist in the game.

Wasn't that from a year ago? I think the devs dropped that Idea.

This would alsoamean serious rebalances to some of the tier 10 mediums. I saw the concept.

I'd be adding more classes into the game not just changing the class names, as a few tanks in the current classes don't belong there

Truth be told there should be a good 13+ vehicle classes in the game.

Assault Tanks (Heavily Armored TDs), Turreted TDs, and SPGs (TDs with no Armor just a gun) should be separated from Traditional TDs for balance purposes.

Light MBTs should be separated from Med Tanks

MBTs should be separated from Heavy Tanks

Scouts should be Separate from Light Tanks, also Tankettes and Combat Cars should find there way into the game.

Artillery should be broken up into Direct Fire/ Indirect Fire SPGs

Exactly what change are we looking for by doing this hypothetical renaming ?
Will it magically make JoeNewguy realize camping base in a Type 5 heavy is the wrong thing to do ?

I don't know what others want out of it but I see it as a way to adjust MM weights on vehicle types to allow for hypothetically more balanced teams

Why not just find a way to rebalance the weight of the tanks as they are currently labeled ?
Wouldn't creating all these extra classes further the amount of learning and/or confusion for newer players ?

Seems like the name changes are more cosmetic to stop people from playing tanks in a way theyre bad at.

Changing the Tiger I from 'heavy' to 'fire support' might stop people from trying to brawl in it.

The current classes actually make it far more confusing , ever see someone in a T95 sniping in the back of the map asking others to spot for them?

The excuse they give is that they are in a TD so they are a sniper. When they are in an Assult Tank and should be helping to spearhead a flank or corridor

There needs to be more seperation to let players realize that different tanks are suited for different tasks

We already have Arty yolos , Super heavy base campers and ridge sniping  IS3s .

Is this seriously the belief that adding class labels will change any of this at all ?

I understand what your trying to say , but I think your confusing players lack of knowledge with their lack of caring . If I had a dollar every time I asked an E100 why he was sitting behind arty in our base , and got a response back of " don't tell me how to play ".

Bottom line , a weight system is greatly needed , but if a secondary result of this is hoping players will play their tanks correctly , this is a dream scenario made for a fantasy land .

Which is why mine covers both, if you don't try anything to make players question, they why would they care to change.

You can't tell people how to play, you have to make them question thier own ability on thier own.

Only then will they want to learn

Your making the assumption these people using tanks incorrectly will question their own gameplay ? I argue that a good portion of these type of players flat out don't care and will continue to play a T29 just like a Borsig. Unfortunately adding more tank classes and forcing new players to learn even more than is already required will have zero impact on said player types .
