wg must jiggle the figures, so it's closer ,they must average it out to the number of players per side.when I was playing there was maybe 1 or 2 Japanese tanks each side and 5 or 6 French.

Yes, it is relative to the number of players on each side. For instance, if you have 4 times more players that chose French over those that chose Chinese then the players playing for China need a lot less completions completed than those on the French side. It is not solely based on the number of completions done by one side or the other.

Well this year I am lucky 2-0 now if China and America can pull it out 4-0 going into the finals can be a real thing this year.:)

log out then back into game and if you pick wrong team you wont get the victory lap

I thought that the Victory Lap was available to everyone, you just need to be driving tanks from the nation that had the Victory. In this weeks case, anyone playing French vehicles gets the bonus on a win regardless of who you backed over the weekend.

Of course, I could be wrong. Wouldn't know, since I've chosen the winning team both weekends so far. :teethhappy:

Might be right

I just looked at last years results and I don't think you can compare them.  1.  WG said the scoring system was different.  2) if you crunch some numbers for last years, its pretty obvious that it was a popularity contest.  The formula appears to be Avg Points = USSR points /  Number of All players, USA points / Number of All players, and so forth. If you want to check, get the data here https://console.worl.../tankmadness-5/, the divide each teams total by the average per player, and the number of players comes out the same for all nations (i.e. either they used All Players for denominator, or by luck, exactly 38,505 players chose each nation (+/- 0.3%).

So, last years was driven by popularity - this years by how good the tanks / players are.    Close = Balance.

Last years wasn't popularity, WG fudged the #'s. They didn't cheat, but what they did is, and this is just an example:

100 players for Germany. They got 150 total completions. That represents 1.5 completions per player.

50 players for US. They got 60 total completions. That represents 1.2 completions per player.

They then said, ok, if Germany only had 75 players they would then have: 112 completions (rounding down).

If US only had 75 players then they would have: 90 completions.

So they published Germany beat US 112 to 90 to the front page and the forum announcement.

This took the popularity contest out of the equation, but made it seem like it was just whatever side had the most completions.

To make things simpler this year they did 2 things:
They are publishing results as completions per player, removing the last step of the process.

They are only counting players who get at least one completion. That way one side isn't encumbered by people who choose the team's Op but then don't follow through on getting anything. Like what happened to France last year. And someone else I think.

The winner is essentially determined using the same method, just in a simpler form, and with fewer participants to weed out the quitters.

Good catch I corrected it I to pick both winning teams as well. What ever Raibot01 picks I choose the opposite unless I know it's a sure win

You don't Madness op isn't over yet there are more nations to be played. Winners at the very end will get a tank depending on what nation that will be.

France has to win the Final IV for you to get the liberte. This time you earned 50000 silver and 3 days premium.

Final IV is Germany, France, winner of Czech/China, winner of Sweden/US and will be in a couple weeks.

You only would get it if France wins the final head to head. Read the original portal notice.

So your saying the process was the opposite of what the data "looks like" on the surface - that they normalized the "total number of points" using actual comps/team  times a fictitious, but equal, team size.

That's a strange approach - must of been the US team that did that because Russians are pretty good at math, IMHO.

Yeah, it started at last years tank bowl. They published the #'s after every quarter then. I think they realized on day 1 they needed to massage the data because Germany was running away from US. If it was too obvious US was going to lose then people joining on the weekend might just ignore the event. The final true #'s were something like 220,000 completions to 150,000. After being massaged to make the player count the same and using the comp/player rate, the score was like 193,000 to 179,000.

That is why this year they are being clearer that it really is just comp/player and only publishing that data. For all we know France had 150,000 completions this weekend and Japan had 100.
