Encounter battle today.  Working on my M5A1 Stuart to get some more tanks ready for the China v. Czech this weekend. 

 

We get south spawn.  First thing is a platoon of 4 arties on our team.  Already knew we were in trouble.  Then the team starts pinging for the valley.  I try to ping the flag.  I watch a majority of our team go valley.  One light tank runs to the city, gets lit up by their lights that have already made it.  I figured to try and stay alive and spot from the road.  4 arties 3 TD's guarding our spawn.  We lose the city, lose the valley, I'm stuck on the road.  Headed back to the spawn to try and do some damage to get some XP.

 

It's an encounter battle.  I don't get it.  Never will.  I always thought the bottom of the valley would have the advantage shooting upwards.  Apparently no matter what side I spawn, the reds have the advantage.

I had a patch of really bad battles in Lakeville :(  The next day, I was winning the battle on the same map.  We all get the batch of horrible battles at time!

Used to hate it, but then I learned to love it..

The 13. (Tiger) Kompanie, of Panzer Regiment Großdeutschland, reported on the performance of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56, when their Tigers engaged the T-34: "First round hits were usually achieved at ranges between 800 to 1,000 meters. At these ranges, the Panzer Granate (they are referring to the PzGr. 39 APCBC ammunition) absolutely penetrated through the frontal armor, and usually still destroyed the engine at the rear of the T-34 tank. In 80 percent of the cases, shots from the same range hitting the side of the hull toward the rear of the tank resulted in the fuel tanks exploding. Even at ranges of 1,500 meters and longer, during favorable weather, it is possible to succeed in penetrating the T-34 with minimal expenditure of ammunition" (JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; op. cit.).

Yes but why do the loses have to last 9,10, 19 games in the same tank? That was my experience on Monday lost 9 games in a row in my Sexton. 3 games in a row not one shot hit. Not even a shotgun with the Stuart at the end of my barrel. Although I will qualify that last shot it hit for critical damage but no hit points.

​Yep tonight 12 games in my Foch and still no wins, yet I get to play against unicum"s like gamer birds flying south for winter and see his 53/55 score six kills with a hit ratio of 94%. Pulling off shotguns while driving and turning at 80 to 100 meters. Then reloading and hitting our arty with the very next shot.

​Finally 14 games later Foch gets a win. Moved to the T34-88 after 6 losses gave up. Tried Gorynych after 3 games all loss. So lets see 3.5 hours and 3 wins. This has to be the best fairest game ever. This is my last year.

Rage quit for the 12th time just not right that tanks doing serpentine maneuvers can hit me three times in a row, and kill me, and all I get is an occasional track. This game is pure twisted [edited] edited the edit to doggy doo doo.

Because you spawned in the bottom left spawn in the first day and upper right spawn in the second day.

unbalanced respawns is unbalanced...

I lost THREE times yesterday on the same way. Don`t get it. Whole team run into valley and we, the lost spartans, try to hold the mayority of OPFORs team in the town. What is wrong with Random???

When I play the Lycan and spawn north, I’ll head to the valley to get some spots. I will then push toward the middle road or town.

But it blows my mind that the encounter flag is in the middle of the town and everyone goes in the opposite direction.   But 3/4 of our team gets out matched by 1/4 of theirs.  I did know we were done once I saw the Arty platoon. They could have pushed toward the town and sat behind that ridge at the bottom of the lake.

I never know where to go anymore. Especially on Steppes. If I’m a light tank, I try to patrol the middle. Heavies push toward the rocks. I play my heavies. My team either camps it around the flag or go to the hill side.

Guess I need to just wait and see where everyone else is going.

In all honesty it really isn't the map, it is the players. I've been getting a lot more encounter matches lately and my experience is that people have pretty much given up on the encounter spot all together. They won't try to go and take it nor will they try to do anything to defend it. Just roll off, fire some shots and maybe get some XP and then move along to the next match as quickly as you can.

You can win through valley, but you can't stop for any reason- not enough time if Red in circle. Usually the majority of teams head to city and leave a few TD in valley both sides, but if your going to push the valley- YOU CAN"T STOP and need some dominate tanks that can take some hits while lighter mediums slip through shooting on the go- over whelm reds. If you can't push through quickly it's dooms day, turn around and head the other way, but you must take edge around or risk being spotting and getting broad sided on lake side do to tardy start. No way of knowing what 14 guys will do. It's out of your hands unless you platoon.

It's the same thing with encounters on Himmelsderp, the cap point is in the middle of the railyard but people still fight for banana road and the castle on the hill instead of heading out to even play the point, even though its closer to both spawns.

I think it’s almost any Encounter map.  Players go to where they go on a Standard battle and figure that will get damage and a win.  Worse is when all your top tiers huddle in the furthest corner of the map “defending the spawn diamond” while all of red park in the circle and watch the timer tick down.

 

I used to rush the cap and try to shoot off as many as I could to slow the loss but not any more.  It does no good other than getting you out of a bad match sooner which I guess is sort of good......

 

Take it with a grain of salt, some wins are just not meant to be....LOL

Had this one on Overlord where I headed straight for the base.  Surprising that our team all high tailed it from the beach, left out backs open for a bit.  We did secure the win, so maybe they did know what they were doing.  I probably wasted too much time with the Kaiju, but I pushed too far.  My platoon mate ended up coming around to help with him.
