IS-3A is good tank, but it's Fatherland and it was earnable tank in some Ops (two Ops so far)...I don't have other two, but IS-5 is similar to IS-3A and this third tank, I'm guessing it's Scourge Kirovets 1 is basicaly a first variant of IS-3 tank, without pike nose and worse front armor than any other IS-3 variant...Kirovets 1 is new tank, not so many of them around, it's early to make conclusions, but so far I haven't had any problems with them as opponents. Also, judging by the practice so far, you can expect unskinned (and probably cheaper) version of Kirovets 1 in store very soon, so don't rush with your decision.

The 13. (Tiger) Kompanie, of Panzer Regiment Großdeutschland, reported on the performance of the 88 mm KwK 36 L/56, when their Tigers engaged the T-34: "First round hits were usually achieved at ranges between 800 to 1,000 meters. At these ranges, the Panzer Granate (they are referring to the PzGr. 39 APCBC ammunition) absolutely penetrated through the frontal armor, and usually still destroyed the engine at the rear of the T-34 tank. In 80 percent of the cases, shots from the same range hitting the side of the hull toward the rear of the tank resulted in the fuel tanks exploding. Even at ranges of 1,500 meters and longer, during favorable weather, it is possible to succeed in penetrating the T-34 with minimal expenditure of ammunition" (JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; op. cit.).

3 MoE tanks: T-34, Pz IVH, Tiger I, Pz.Kpfw. T 25

Not sure if many reviews of Scourge but Quickybaby has a Review of IS-3 Auto and maybe IS-5 as well.

For Scourge, i'd recommend searching Console CC's such as Cpt Beardface, Bullvyi, Spartan Elite 43 for example, i don't watch Console CC's religiously though but would have a look.

All three virtually play the same however but heard lots of Bad things about Fatherland IS-3 A but it's not a bad tank (weaker IS-3).

Well the the is3a/fartherland and is5 at lowest average damage wise only below the T34 for tier 8 premium heavies and there are like 28 on the list i think .

I own both the Fatherland (IS-3A) and Glory (IS-5). I do not own a Scourge, mainly because I own plenty of other Tier 8 Russian premiums.

Given a choice among the three I would probably go with the IS-5; while it and the IS-3A share many similarities it just "feels" better to me. Both play similarly to an IS-3 so if you understand how the pike-nose works you'll be fine.

The Scourge/Kirovets-1 is a different beast - the plain sloped frontal armor allows to you angle the tank as you would most any other without destroying the armor protection like you do when you try that in the pike-nosed IS's. Based on the tanks you've already played, the Kirovets might actually be the best choice for you since it won't require completely re-learning how to play a heavy tank.

Good luck!

Go for the Kv4K Verzila. Better gun handling than all the other three mentioned and has pretty good armour too. Plus i think its cheaper than the others also.

I got rid of my Glory IS 5 as i just got fed up with the unreliable gun handling, which i know is what you get with the Russian 122mm, but i had enough fully aimed shots (which take a life time to aim in!) derp into the ground or try to bring a plane down!

So far i'm finding the Verzila gun to be far more reliable but this is just me.

Kirovets is good little tank and far more better than IS-5 or IS-3 auto and gun is far more better than Defenders gun.

and its armor holds up pretty nicely too

That's true, that IS-5 Glory is the king of the unreliable USSR guns. I cursed this tank, it must be programmed like that to be so bad. That shell goes anywhere except to where you aim. And I got a V-Stab, EGLD, BIA, Smooth Ride and Snapshot. So frustrating...

Do not get the IS-5 you will not like the way the gun performs. Like they said above a lot of  problems with Hits and Pens. It does not live up to its tank spec. Truly a frustrating tank to play.

I’ll so add the is-5 is a t-10/is-8 but it’s not a copy of it because their history is related but it’s not enough to make it count as a copy of the t-10/is-8 and dose have the same gun as the is3a what I recommend since it’s cheaper but between the kirovet and is-3a you have to consider their stats of what you rather want

Neither, get defender or base IS3 instead.
