haha couldn’t resist. Seriously tho, T29 is a great tank (you do mean the US heavy?) you have to be a bit cautious until you get the upgraded turret, then you can be a hull down master. You can get this thing to side scrape as well, just need to watch out for Tigers whose got better gun, faster firing, but you have better armour

Stop rushing up the tech tree and get some more experience. T29 is a powerful tank, maybe one of the best at tier 7.
If you cannot make it work, then go back and practice being hull down in the Jumbo.

This is seriously good advice. I have over 11 thousand matches and I only have 1 Tier IX tank and no Tier X. Take your time and don't rush. Crew training is very important and an edge that cannot be overlooked.

Also, what do you define as a 'good' crew? I'd say minimum 4 skills.
How many games do you have in the T29? I's usually about 50 - 80 for me to get my 1st MoE. Keep playing!

Get equipment and supplies on it. Just not binos and camo net.

I run mine with Vert. Stab, Gun rammer and Toolbox.
Loaded with 2/3 regular shells and 1/3 prammos, no HE.
After BIA I trained skills and perks increasing durability (Repair, Track mecanics and so on...)
Don't place yourself in a situation where you're isolated would be my first advise.

Well there is already a ton of good advice here, and it seems OP has taken it to heart. With out getting back into the ole Tiger I vs T 29 arguments, I too feel the T29 is absolutely the best Tier VII heavy and maybe the best Tier VII tank period. Oh the awesome feeling of being hull down and having Tier VIII/IX tanks bounce rounds off your turret.....
(Steampunk, don't get mad at me! )

Yes. A T29 player that knows how to protect that hull is a difficult tick to dislodge. I usually drive away.

You definitely want equipment.
Rammer, Vertical Stabilizer, Vents on mine.
You also might want to try with the 90mm gun instead of the 105. The better reload gives you a little more flexibility and margin for error.

I won't say you're wrong cause we are probably both wrong/right as we don't share the same point of view...But, what I felt after unlocking 105mm gun was that I reached the quintessence of the tank at that moment... Just personnal feeling once again.

I had light purple stats in it during the grind, got the big gun and i just sucked. stats took a nose dive to light blue.
Finally put the 90mm back in last night and this was the first game....
Maybe like me you just don't get on with the gun handling for alpha trade off?
Also people poke out expecting the long reload and you slap them again.
