The auto fire extinguishers are worth the extra silver, just for the passive buff.  I normally run those on my more fire prone tanks.  That, and adding Preventative Maintenance on the crew has worked like a champ for me.  Hope that helps.

fuel tanks in front of tank get hit = fire. Not just when engine is hit

I never use manual extinguishers...Always auto for the passive buffs. I said it before and I say it again. The Large kits are the best deals in the game. A couple years ago when the ops just were introduced, there was an op for 10 pens in a game you got 10 Large First Aid Kits and 10 Large Repair Kits 10 times a day for about 13 days. Then it still was possible to get them with a tier II tank. I got them all with the T-Rex. I still have 245 Large Repair Kits and 267 Large First Aid kits.

Those good old days.

Not for the rest of the ops. Always carry Auto extinguishers. It reduces the chance to set on fire.

I use auto on every single tank I play, even tier 3s. Other than ARTY and any other tank I'm running premium consumables/food on. The passive boost is worth it, particularly if you're in a French tank with fire fighting skill. If you don't get set on fire, you don't lose 20k but yet your chance of being set on fire is reduced by 10%...seems like a deal to me and I've run them consistently on all tanks for over a year and still got 100m silver.
