Churchill Gun Carrier with sloped armor. Both upper front glacis & lower glacis at 30 degrees angle.

Gun could be the 3.7inch anti tank gun or the Bofors M29 80mm: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bofors_75_mm_Model_1929

The alt history scenario here is that in summer 1942, Operation Sea Lion is going to be a real thing after the original plans in 1940 were suspended. The German army is indeed

capable to send ships carrying Tiger 1 tanks. Britain needs a solution to fend off the invaders!

So, the mixed alliance aspect here is that a German engineer helped the British war effort, improving British tank designs. In my example scenario, the British really needed

the Chuchill Gun Carriers. Churchill tank battle experience so far had made it clear, that they needed sloped armor. This is where the German engineer helps out.

My suggestion is a Churchill Gun Carrier with sloped armor, using interlocking armor plates like the upcoming Jagdpanther would.

The following tanks aren't Frankenstein combination tanks, but they could certainly fit the mercenary line by just giving different internal modules ( such as engine and/or radio ) and camo schemes different from their nation of origin.

Panzer IV/70E also known as the Jagdpanzer IV L70 with new suspension and new roadwheels (  12 instead of 16 ).

This variant never made it into production. Reference can be found in the book Nuts & Bolts volume 38 https://www.nuts-bolts.de/volume-38.html

Churchill VII AVRE L9A1 165mm (without the dozer blade of course). Apparently, the Irrish successfully tested a 600 horsepower Merlin engine in one of their Churchill tanks, so this could be a new engine for the AVRE 165. Here's my thoughts on why you might want to consider adjusting the concept of this Mercenay line.

In terms of story and premise:

I understand this line ties in with War Stories.and that you have a special propietary Merc War Stories tank named Trinity.

From my point of view, the concept and foundation don't sound very plausible or compelling - even as fictional alternate history.

Afteral, without well-defined factions without well defined ideologies, a story premise will lack tension. Mercs just fighting for money

is a very shallow premise, prone to running out of steam quickly.

It doesn't sound very practical either: because tanks in both reality and fiction are kept running with a proper supply chain of supplies and repair facilities.

This is also the reason why captured tanks weren't actually used in combat very often / long term in real life. It's just very impractical. A Frankenstein tank would be exponentially impractical.

Afteral, the tankers just operate the tanks - the engineers and manufacturers are the ones who create and repair them.

A Frankenstein tank would need a consistent supply of that bizarre mix of ammo and materials. This is highly improbable.

It's much more plausible and interesting if the premise involves engineering expetise povided by a defector engineer, influencing nation specific tank industry.;  this could tie into new engineer medals and it could generate a narrative foundation for War Stories missions in which that nation obtains the services of that defector/mercenary engineer, if they execute a mission in favor of another faction and/OR in exchange for their own specific engineering expertise.

So the result would still be tanks which have been designed from the ground up, albeit with new characteristics ( armor - mobility - fire power ) by influence of a foreign engineer.  The Churchill GC with sloped armor in my startpost fits that bill.

In terms of ingame hierarchy

Once a player has "researched" this foreign engineering expertise, this could form the narrative foundation for him to be able to apply these foreign modifications and methods to more tanks of said nation line. The same engineer could then double-agent and bring back expertise to the nation he originates from.

So yeah, imo this sounds more plausible as an alternate history premise - I hope you consider it WG.

Dear Frankentankaclaus,

This year for the apocalypse could I please have, a Tiger 1 turret on an M6 hull with a double barreled Jackson TD gun. It should have a big engine to carry the extra armor plate that has been welded to the sides and top of the turret.

Thank You.

p.s. - i will leave a repair kit and some hesh ammo on the kitchen table for you.

1. Tier 6 Medium Tank. Hull of the Cromwell. Turret of the T-34-85. Gun would be the 75 mm Škoda A18 (s automatickým nabíjením) from Czech T-25.

2. Tier 5 TD. Take the M3 Lee (or Grant) and strip off the turret. We can’t use the turret in the game anyway, so it is useless. Call it battle damage and replace the turret with steel plate. Next, cut a hole in the steel plate and weld on a cupola from a German Pz.Kpfw. IV. For the gun, take the 17 pdr AT Gun MK.II from the French S35 CA. Put some spare tracks and wheels on the front to justify bringing the front armor up just a bit. I think that would reduce the crew down to four, which is what the S35 CA has anyway as I recall.

3. Tier 5 Medium. Hull of the M4 Sherman with the turret of the T-34. Gun is the 57 mm ZiS-4.

4. Tier 6 Medium. Hull of the French Tier 5 Renault G1. Turret and Gun of Sweden’s Strv m/42-57 Alt A.2 Medium tank.

5. Tier 6 Medium. Take the highest researched turret and gun of Sweden’s Strv 74 and put them on the hull of the T-34-85.

I found some images of real life "mercenary" tanks that could be recreated with minimal new renders or modification because of that 50gb thing.

Yugoslavian upgrade of the M4 Sherman with the gun from an IS-2.

Related image

Can be recreated with a M4 hull, M4 mle 45 turret, and the D25t 122mm gun from the IS2. Could be balanced as a variety of tiers, I would like to see it as a Tier 6 or 7 medium to make the alpha damage special.

Brazilian Upgrade of M3 light tank with a 90mm gun

main-qimg-e5cda5935eb95c6cea878701ac1a2f

Can be recreated with a M5 Stuart hull,  a modified Covenanter turret, and the Hollenhund's 90mm gun. Tier 7 or Tier 8 light tank would be the best place for it and it would provide a TT alternative to the Hollenhund.

Egyptian T-100

Image result for egyptian t-100 tank

T-34 Hull, modified T-34/85 turret with additional plating, and a 100mm gun. I would recommend the T-62's gun and make t a Tier 8 TD in lieu of the Charioteer. Honestly this would probably fit better as a premium tank for the Russians but it fits here too.

From another thread, I posted this:

Greywoolfe64:

I would like to see a degree of compatibility between various modules, i.e. certain turrets with certain hulls based on size of turret ring, so that whenever a contract is made for certain parts, we can then assemble our own tanks and name them from scratch. If not, I'd like to see a T34/88 or T34/100 turret on a Panther hull, and also a KV2 turret on a VK45.03 hull, with the long-barreled 152mm gun from the SU152...

Anything with a maus hull in my opinion should just stay at tier 10 because it’s a super heavy tank

I have a suggestion for a Mercenary Artillery....

Codename: Loblolly
Chassis: AMX 13 or BC 25
Gun/turret: 152 or 203mm Soviet Naval gun
Tier 7-10
Crew: Oldman Andersea
Oldman Andersea was once a decorated Naval officer of the Swedish Navy known for his stubborn demeanor and an uncanny sense for pending danger.  But one day, while at sea, his wife was kidnapped by Resistance fighters and his commanders refused to give him leave to save her.  Determined, he defied his orders and headed for the nearest port in France.  Once there he knew that he’d have to take the fight inland.....

Arriving in the French port, Andersea spots the ruins of a tank factory and sees some vehicles that just might work.  All the turrets have been destroyed, but the engines still fire up.  He decides to “borrow” the deck gun from his ship and mounts it firmly to the top of the French tank.  Now he’s ready to mount an assault against the Rebels and reclaim his dearest love.

*I like the idea of a “captured” Naval gun taken off a ship and then mounted onto a tank chassis.  I also like the idea of a fast moving artillery with a 360 gun traverse and good concealment.  It would still maintain appropriate gun handling for artillery.

I'm not going to make a suggestion for a tank just a plea to WoTs that we can put camo on these new monsters.

Although perhaps here they could go overboard on the camo schemes for their new creations. Dayglow dazzle camo anyone?

I have another Mercenary tank suggestion....

Tier VII-VIII TD
Codename: The Raptor
Chassis: AMX 50t
Turret: Conway
Gun: 152mm Soviet Howitzer
Crew: Allen Brant (it’s a play on Alan Grant from Jurassic Park)

Allen Brant is an archaeologist-turned-treasure hunter and specializes in the recovery of rare antiquities, fossils, and museum collections.... by force when necessary.

I have another idea for a Mercenary Artillery...

Tier VI-VII Artillery
Codename: Volcano(or find a Hawaiian word for “tank”)
Chassis: Matilda BP
Turret: Pz.Sfl. IVb
Gun: 155mm Howitzer M45 w/ autoloading mechanism, 3 round magazine, 4 second intraclip reload, 30 second magazine reload(keeps the overall RoF fairly close to the M44 but should be a little faster)
Crew: Kapoho Kate

Kapoho Kate grew up in the South Pacific in the shadow of her father, a respected Navy Admiral.  Because of her father’s work, she never had a real place to call home and instead made friends with the security forces and military personnel she’s meet as they traveled.  As a young girl they would entertain her during those closed door meetings her father was in by teaching her self defense tricks..... But as she grew older they started training her how to shoot.... Eventually, she was noticed for her skills and recruited to join a Mercenary group where she went on to develop a reputation as a fierce fighter with a gift for surprising her enemies.

I think there’s a place for a mid-tier autoloader Artillery.  This could work.  I think this particular combination of turret/hull will actually look reaaalllly awesome!
