I'm at tier 8 on both lines and wondering which to commit to. I'm already grinding the Pershing and i don't have the patience to do more than 2 tier 8 grinds at once, so just after opinions on these tanks please so i can pick a line to finish. From what i see when facing them:

Mauschen= bit naff.

Maus= decent.

VK 45= decent.

Pz. VII= pretty poor.

I could be wrong though.

VK45B is a steaming pile now. Needs a mobility buff if it's going to keep the current armour pattern.

Liked the Maus, but it usually wins games by bouncing shots for teammates rather than doing loads of damage.

I'd gladly wait an extra minute for MM balance.

Maus, it’s pretty solid ever since the buff as far as I can tell from facing them and talking to my bud. The VKs seem too situational, and their weakspots are a lot harder to hide.

Your initial guess is pretty accurate. Pz7 has a nice gun and ok mobility, but that's about it. It's riddled with flaws you can't properly counter due to its design. Meanwhile the Maus had a few of its flaws ironed out such as sloppy aim time and gained some tune ups. It's also far easier to angle and protect. Gun is a bit boring/lacking due to alpha/RoF, but acceptable after the buffs.

VK45.02B isn't easy mode frontally anymore, but is improved when sidescraping/angled due to side armor buff. Downside is it lost the lower plate thickness and can't be lazy. Compared to the Mauschen it's better due to mobility and size. Mauschen is a 'worse' prebuff Maus and I can't see that being awesome knowing that experience. On the plus side the VK 100.01P is awesome.

If you want the tier 10 go for the Maus, if you want just the tier 9 and don't mind being technically worse than the E 75 go for the VK 4502B

They all suffer heavily from premium ammo and Doritos "balance". None of them are spectacular anymore, god forbid you play alone.

Just pick the one you think looks the most fun because they aren't very competitive.

MOEs so I can pretend like they matter

The Maus is easily the better option. It's a very fun tank to play if you enjoy playing a support/wall role, and it's significantly better than the Pz. VII (which is one of the worst tier Xs in the game).

I'm enjoying grinding my Mauschen, but it's painfully slow and you get games where you hardly get to shoot. If you hate super slow super heavies I'd avoid it.

Can't help on the other line.

I just couldn't get much done in the Mice...I still get along fairly well with my Bravo...I'll be making the final XP push to the pz7 when I get home from holiday on Saturday.

Pz 7 is a better tank but a maus is a maus. Its just like comparing a tog to any other t6 premium.

Ya just cant call yaself a reel tanker unless ya got1.

A non constructive reply.

I honestly like the Pz.Kpfw. VII more because of it's better gun and mobility.  But it really suffers from having the weakest turret armor of the three Tier X German Heavies.  You just can't bounce the shots like you can the Maus and E-100.  If you're looking for a Heavy with a better gun, I'd go for the Pz.Kpfw. VII.  If you're looking for one with better survivability, I'd go for the Maus.  It's just that it's soooooo slow to get anywhere in it, but you can bounce shots with it way easier.

I wouldn't get the VK 45 B unless you get the top gun on the Tiger II first.

With backup and gold spam, the Maus is a complete beast. However, for solo play purposes, it needs a rate of fire buff IMO.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. I'd forgotten that the VK 45 B had the lower plate nerfed, although improved side armour sounds good. Will go for the Maus though i think. These replies, the weakspots on either side of the Pz VII and the fact that it's win rate on the nerf barometer is awful lead me to believe that it's not great. That doesn't mean i wouldn't get on with it, i'm really enjoying the Grille 15 for instance despite it being a nerfed tier X amongst un-nerfeds ones, but it means it's a gamble to go for it, and if the tier 9 isn't great either than i'd rather not bother. The tier 8 VK 45 A is a good tank after the buffs so i'm glad i went up the line purely for that tank at least.

Thanks again for the replies so far.

Let me point out that you've always been a big supporter of side scraping (to my recollection) and seem to be very good at it. The 45B plays quite a bit like the 215 heavy. I'm guessing the pz7 is more of the same.

Despite the weak spot on the side, you can still sidescrape effectively in the PZ7.

The Maus does look fun, despite it's slow speed and obvious weak points.

I didn't like the Mauschen at all. The armour felt non-existent to me.
