Population has been in a steady decline and the game is 4 years old, so many people will have tried it.  Growth would be a sign of a healthy seal population and it is not there.  So are seals an endangered species? Are players simply mistaking potatoes for seals?

I have seen seals on the Green team.....not so much on the reds.......I usually recognize them driving artillery, busting your camo by knocking into you, drawing enemy fire, dying, then watching you die from all the fire they drew to you......I usually check to see how much experience they have in the game when this happens, then I consider messaging them to politely ask if they could use some pointers......then I reconsider, as they might take it as harrassment.......you get the idea.....

If they had comm. and asked for help, I would be glad to give them some help.......as it is, I just go back to the garage and try another tier.....

Seals turn into potatoes which are durable enough to grow this game.  If seals are aplenty and we still are losing taters then we must be over hunting the seals correct?

Taters also take those actions.  Right? I mean the only real difference between a seal and a tater is number of games Right?

Which is why they turn into taters in the next stage.  Taters are durable.  The fields could be burned by enemies but the taters, safe in the ground would endure.

I think you are spot on.  I've been saying this in threads for weeks now.  Look at the low tier population now with the tier 5 and up ops.  It's a Ghost Town.  (BTW, I don't think the tier restriction has anything to do with protecting new players.  It's to prevent us buying a bunch of low tier tanks for cheap and AFKing the x2 bonuses every day.)

It's not a sign of an unhealthy game, just a game that's four years old.

Seal hunter looks at games.  Looks at post count.  Suspects decoy seal.

I see seals and potatoes all the time. It's just that they are always on my team. :sceptic:

If you see seals "All the time" why is the player base declining?

To me seals and potatoes are one in the same. Inexperienced or simply unable players.

It doesn't mean that the seals always leave. They just metamorphose into potatoes. It's simple evolution really! :hiding:

I think you’re mistaking who is leaving the game. I think new player retention is a problem but I think the biggest problem is veteran player retention. Honestly it’s just a guess though.

Now i I know this is an extremely small sample size (just 10 games) but a friend and I tested the whole seal protection thing wg claims to have in place and I can say there were a lot more players with less than 100 games than there were veterans. So I would venture a guess that there are still seals out there but wither or not they stick around is debatable.

I only have the Obj 140 as tier X on ps4, but from what i've seen it's pretty much unplayable in your average solo q scenario. I'm not saying that the reds don't get seals/tomatoes, they get just as many as the green team, the problem is that having so many [edited]players in a single game makes things horrible for everyone involved. It's literally a full game of "you move first, you die", due to both teams not spreading evenly through the map, but resorting to either 1) if small maps: form a 11/12 player push down one flank leaving everywhere else on the map completely open and unguarded and this can end in either a "who gets to cap first contest" or a boring battle of attrition, which has no real counterplay because thanks to WG's amazing (irony) map design you almost certainly will not be able to get long range shots on anyone from any direction so you'll have to get closer, get spotted and melted/pinned because there are just too many tanks and i'm usually the only one that even tries to drive more than 500m (all the while your team doesn't use the distraction to push further up and hunker down in an advantageous position), if not literally in proxy spot range to get a few side/rear shots before having to run and being left with no other options than facetank everything or rely on your team to draw the attention back to them (lol). This kind of gameplay while being boring af is perfect for heavy tds/tanks (hence why it's usually 8 heavies, maybe 2/3 meds and the rest tds with a lone arty).

2) Large/Medium maps: basically nobody leaves spawn, instead they the find a comfy rock/house to be basically arty immune and a pain in the [edited]to pen due to the lack of stealth flanking options, unless you decide to load gold (and even then it's 50/50 wether you go through considering some of the newer tanks have stupid levels of frontal armor) or you're playing a boomstick type of td. Again this is perfect for heavily armored tanks with huge guns. Again as a medium/light tanker you can try your luck and slowly try to advance to get some spotting damage (this is usually not possible, because your average tier X camper has a maxed out view range+stationary+bush, so yeah gl getting the drop on a camping team).

the only consistently fun tiers are 5/6/7/8 (8 doesn't get as horrible mm as everyone thinks), because everyone is less concerned about losing money, tanks at those tiers still have weakspots that can be penned by almost all the tanks in the match and most of all there very considerable differences in view ranges and camo ratings between classes (and tiers) that can be used by experienced tankers to very good effect, making the gameplay much more dynamic and individual skill based. Also the gameplay that most of the maps can offer is best suited to tanks with 350-390 view range.

My 2 cents.

Can't argue that logic one bit. Are we soon to face the pixilated version of the Irish potato famine? What game do we migrate to?
