I would like to play with an STB-1 turret at Tiers 8 or 9, where the armor counts for a bit more and with better gun handling. The overall mobility would be slower than the STB, and would move more lime a Type-59, T-54 Mod.1, or a Type-61.

For the armament; I would like either: an OQF 20-Pdr. if placed at Tier-8, or the 90mm Rheinmetall DM1 if placed at Tier-9. I really like the British 105mm L7A1 gun, but I think the Rhm. 90mm would add more visual variation and still provide similar play style.

I really enjoyed playing the Type-61 with its 90mm gun, which has an alarming rate of fire for Tier-9. However, the penetration and the terrible turret profile often made it nearly impossible to survive an unavoidable brawl and agonizing to play ridge-lines. I love the STB-1 turret and I would gladly trade some mobility and DPM for a bit more armor.

I like this especially if it's the type 59 hull with the 105 off the king dragon

I haven't played the King Dragon. But the gun seems fairly similar to the M4 Rev.'s 105, which I do like.

The thing I'm really going for is a sort of a Tier-9 Comet, with a better turret and a high rate of fire. The Type-61's 90mm gun is really great in a brawl. The turret just let's you down.

I'm putting it together in my mind and OMG! 4202 chassis with STB-1 turret
That sounds Awesome!!
Looks like a praying Mantis of Tier 8 devouring it's prey!
think dark green cooler modern look, like a pissedoff Edelweiss!
that went next level beastmode!

This Idea is one of the best I've seen yet on tanks!

Sounds like a solid Tier 8 premium if they give it the 105 from the super Sherman.

Should post this in GD

Thanks. I do think it would look pretty cool.

I can't complain about having a good 105mm gun. But the STB-1 already has one of those. The idea I was going for is more of a 'track-and-hold' ridge-line warrior.

The original idea being; the Type-61's 90mm gun has an absolutely BLISTERING 12 rounds a minute, but the pen often lets you down. Which is why I favor the 90mm Rheinmetall DM1. I think it brings the best of both guns to the table, and would work well at Tier-9. There aren't a lot of guns in that tier bracket with a relevant 10+ RPM. But, yes, it would thrill me if WarGaming were to pick up the idea.

I've posted it in the Merc Tank suggestion thread already. We'll see what we see...
