I was wondering when you would post something like this.. Good job.  Nice read

Heya Butter - long time no speak - although I did see you on Dragon Ridge the other day in your VK (Tier VI Heavy - I'm so out of touch with Heavy designations these days - they're just something to call in Arty on to me :) ).

I actually posted it at the ripe old age of 3 weeks a Tanker, but I've added a bunch of new stuff just now. Still a little rough as I've adapted a PM response, but I think it gets the point across. Short version: High-Tier Scouting is harder.

I apologize for the length of my post.

Godeater, try this on Mali for maximum red frustration: Get to and park in the bush in the middle of the field and stay put, best legal fun on WOT.

3 MoE's: None.

I know the one - love it - but now that the old spawn points are long gone the main fighting on Mali rarely happens out in the south field; I spend most of my time peeking the ridge south of the village. Mucho shell dodging is required, but it pays off in spades since you can spot the Reds almost back to spawn as well as light up the approach to the hill. A lucky string of Tier VII battles there got me my second MOE on my beloved old Leo. Mali remains a great Scouting map, tho - so easy to rack up Spotter damage with plenty of room to duel Red Scouts.

Add when your deep in the bush spotting, point your tank in the direction you intend to flee when it comes time.  Two seconds can save your tank.

That's a good point, be pre-setup for escape. :great:

Good advice! Always have your escape route ready to go at a moments notice - cuz that's all you'll get. :)

OH OK I forgot that was there.

It is a quote I use all the time with recruits

The army cannot make you do anything.  It can only make you wish you had done it.

I find it's very hard to play the scout role in a t49. Not only is the vision not great, when you can end a game in the 4-6k damage range beating out alot of your heavy and tds in damage output it's really hard not to put that derp cannon to work using that speed instead to support weak flanks then get out when the flank falls, drive by hit and runs in the booty for real big hits as the enemies thin out.

Other than that good post op!

And keep your turret pointed away from the reds.  I think it messes with the "detected" feature for those who don't have sixth sense.   Doesn't it?

Thank you for a very nice post! Very interesting.

It has been discussed several times before, many maps are to small to get that really great battle where you can "stretch out", a bit more reality and longer battle-time.

If WoTanks in the future switches to larger maps, then I think that scouting will be more interesting and even more important.

It is fun to play and takes time to learn but it feels great to assist your TD/Artillery by lighting up enemies and see the result.
