I like that this tank has 3 shots at a time. Armor isn't great even against other light tanks. Would having a spall liner even make a difference? Would it be worth it?

spall liner only helps against rammin and non pen HE damage, so likely not

Never spend money on a spall liner, especially at tier 3.

I'm not stealing kills, I'm handing out Confederate medals.

why never?    It's handy for slow heavies that get crapped on by arty a lot. Or for reducing non Penn dmg  from a 183 or derp guns.

This forum needs the Fake Marine

Snore,   the only person I know of that likes mushy peas in a taco with cinnamon sprinkles.

Thanks! I wasn't going to keep playing this tank or go any further up the line, but I played a couple in it today and realized I liked it better than I thought. I just wish it had more armor.

Use it as a sniper and avoid return fire as much as possible. Autoloaders are fun to play though!

Keep going until the tier 6 upgraded - it's more of the same flavour.

So you play this more like a td? Or do you mean playing it like a light, but taking cover more?

My philosophy of the game is this:  never trust armor; real skill is not being hit at all.  If you buy a spall liner, you are admitting that you can't play arty safe.  You are betting against yourself.  If you pick an equipment that enhances your offensive capabilities (vents, Rammer, etc) you are betting that you are good enough to take advantage of a small upgrade in firepower.

Honestly, the way the game is set up right now, the lower tiers are meant to be skipped.  It's the best use of free XP out there.

I can see your point. However, that's not usually my style unless I just really dislike a tank.

I'm very happy with the spall liner in my Churchill III.

We'll see if I can keep going that far with it. If it's an autoloader too or a heavy, I'll probably like it.

Really? Now that seems like an odd one to do that with.

Tell that to the pre-nerf E50 or the WZ-132-1. Both good rammers that benefited from a spall liner until Wargaming made them unplayable.

Don't get hit.

It seems to be common knowledge that new players should start with heavy tanks, because they are easy to play. In the last days I started to think that this is exactly the wrong approach, at least if you want to become a good player. I started off with a bit of everything, but soon focused on scouts, and I'm still consider not being hit my best armor.

Why? It's slow and usually a prime target for arty.

Well, I try not to get hit. It would make it a bit easier if this had a little more speed. I'm not very good at playing lights. I think it's the combination of speed and shooting. And when I was starting out, my understanding of the purpose of lights was wrong. I ended up skipping a lot of that and sticking with heavies mostly. I would like to learn how to play light tanks though.

I'm not really sure what the purpose of a spall liner really is, but I just figured there was better equipment for Churchill.

More like a td/medium hybrid which is the play style for a lot of the Czech line.
