It's been a long time that Mastery badges have been inoperative.  I remember they were really SNAFU probably more than a year ago.  Then Wargaming finally got around to fixing them--for wins.

Are you guys gonna get around to fixing them for losses too?  I remember guys getting M badges for great performances on losses just as well.  Now I see videos of astounding damage & kills on losses that get sometimes a 3-badge or even no badge at all.

You need a battle hero medal to get the same xp in a loss as you do in a win.

Afaik it's always been that way.

Yup.

I am still getting them with the same frequency in losses as long as you get the hero medal.

I know about Battle Hero medals, but I've seen recent videos of guys putting up 10-12k damage, and just a 2 or 3 level badge (in tier 10).  Sometimes 4k damage in tier 7, no badge at all.  There's something fishy going on.

Mastery badges are based on XP, not damage. This is where earning a Battle Hero medal the players mentioned earlier comes into play. MoE's are the things that are based on damage. :honoring:

if they aren’t spotting their own damage there’s an immediate 50% in XP earnings.

Lots of ways to have a big damage game and not get ace tanker.

As of late Mastery badges seem perfectly normal for wins and losses.

If you don't get a battle hero medal your unlikely to get a Ace on a loss.

Mastery badges work just fine, both for wins and loses. Some tanks are harder to master than others. For instance, a lost 4K dmg game with a decent amount of experience in the Motherland will be a mastery, but a winning game in the M103 with 5K dmg may be a 2nd class mastery.

Don't give up and you will eventually get it. :) Good luck!

They still work. Unfortunately, I get them more than I want.

One of my Pooles games was a loss, and an ace medal for it in the Obj 704.

If I only had a Baneblade....

Did almost 7k damage and 1k spot and 5 kills in my skoda t50 ... In a loss. First class.

Was this close to a top gun but missed out on 6th kill by less than a second.

Can't remember what my base xp was (around 1700ish?) But it would have been interesting if that top gun would have pushed me over the edgenfor a mastery.

I rebought the t50 during this ontrack just for this purpose. To master it.

Much harder to do because is a loss, you usually die so you don't get the survived bonus.  However, it is still quite possible.  Here is my last M in a loss.

We should just turned this into a pinned thread of Ace Tankers in losses...  I really should have won this one though...

It's easier to get tons of damage and battle hero medals in a loss.  If your team is competent enough to win, everyone is probably sharing damage.  If your teamates are crap and not dealing damage, there's more for a good player to collect.  I just got my first top gun and Ace Tanker in the Hammer in a losing game.  When we got blown out I grouped up with my surviving teammates and used them as distractions/shields while I farmed damage and kills.  Half my Radley Walters came in losses.

I'm not stealing kills, I'm handing out Confederate medals.

That's a fantastic game for an M badge, but it only netted 1094 base XP.  You were given the M badge (rightly deserved).  I once had a platoon mate get a badge for 600-700 base XP in a loss.  I don't understand it.

The "base xp" is not only what's in the column, but also the xp award you get from the battle hero medal, in this case the 606 xp you see to the right.

WG changed this earlier, because from the beginning that reward was included in the team list.

they receive a battle hero medals,  which results in full xp.   The base xp shown is not the true amount.
