I just gave up on the WZ-120 with less than 30K to go before unlocking the 121. The gun has some gratifying BOOM to it, but it's just not nimble enough to make up for the lack of hull armor and that ABYSMAL gun depression. Figured: if I'm not loving the WZ-120, what's the point in playing basically the same tank a tier X?

So I sold it off and just started playing the T-34-2 again. It's not a monster -- in fact, it's kind of a challenge, especially when in a Tier X match -- but I think I'm falling in love with it. I have a new appreciation I didn't see the first time around. That 122mm cannon is beautiful when it hits. And although this tank isn't fast as a Light, it can circle and dodge some heavies in a 1-on-1 situation to make up for the slow reload speed. The 5 degrees of gun depression is below average but enough to create some flexibility. Camo is great and can snipe sometimes.

The raw power of the T-34-2 and its lack of popularity made me wonder what other TT tanks are neglected despite their obvious strengths. For instance, the BDR G1 B is another tank that few people play. That French Heavy was one of my faves for a while. It can dominate, albeit it's Tier V so the competition is often questionable.

What are YOUR favorite TT tanks that seem to get less love than they deserve?

Hmm...a toughie.

I like the Type 58 for some odd reason, it’s pretty much the red headed step child of the T-34-85s.

I also like the ARL 44 with the final 90mm, cuz even in tier VIII matches you hardly ever need to shoot premium due to the awesome pen values.

VK 36. Gun still sucks for a tier 6 heavy.

Panther Damage is way too low. Needs a damage boost to the likes of the 17 pounder

GR1  That tumor makes playing a LOT of maps much harder. They will see the growth hours before you can see them.

A-43.  Haven’t played it since it got the 85mm.  It’s like a Russian Cromwell.

Skoda t40.  It is a crap tank and doesnt specialize in anything, but it is fairly mobile and can get around.

And when the gun is working, it can put tanks back to the garage.

Oops.

I like the Ferdinand. Doesn't get much love, and people mostly prefer the JPII.

But the gun is just so reliable. And if you hide the lower plate and wiggle, you can bounce a lot. I have had high caliber medals in tier 10 games multiple times in it. And it is just fantastic looking in the garage

The garage is gone. Looks weird in the swamp.

Put the 85 on and try it.  It becomes a beast mode Russian Cromwell....

loving life in t54 ltwt atm, never realized how mobile it was compared to the med. I'm having a hard time wanting to move the crew to 100lt when I'm done. Have you had success with 100 LT? you like or prefer the t54 ltwt?

The most underrated?

  • M4A2E4/Grizzly/M4 Champion - I won two and bought the other for half price. They need some premium ammo, but they are fun to drive, very nimble and a decent frontal armor.
  • Pz. IV Schmalturm - Has the stock turret and gun from the Panther II, which is not worth much at tier VIII, but is pretty decent at tier VI. Very good accuracy and good penetration. I think it was buffed a year ago or so, since then it's also pretty quick.
  • Comet - I think it had a bad rep because it follows the Cromwell. Acceleration is not nearly as good, but it's still fast. The gun is an update from the Cromwell's and has a blistering rate of fire.
  • Pershing - One of my two favorite tier VIII mediums. It's not the fastest medium, but had otherwise no weaknesses. Strong turret, excellent view range, good gun.

Or the ones I tried again after I sold them, and loved them?

  • VK 16.02 Leopard - Both tanks were featured by a youtuber a couple of months ago. I grinded through both of them without paying attention. The Leopard uses updates of the Luchs' guns, and I never tried the 3 cm gun on the Leopard. My loss, it's a much better gun on the Leopard, and turns it into a tier V Batchât.
  • VK 30.01 (H) - The VK30 was the tank with my first gunmark ever, but I couldn't deal with the lack of armor back then. The pure brilliance of the gun completely escaped me.

Are you talking about stock configurations?

The VK's gun is very accurate and has a good penetration and good DPM.

The Panther almost ended up on my list of most underrated tanks. The alpha is low, but everything else about the tank is great.

RU 251. The raw speed and DPM it's capable of can easily overshadow the plague of 13 90s and T49s we're used to.

No, the 88 is lack luster while the konish just doesnt have enough umph. This was my first heavy tank so I am very partial to it and never sold it. Back when the tech tree was from the pz4 to the vk36. And back then the 88 only had 132 pen.

Yes I like the T-100 but to be honest I’m thinking of yanking my great crew out of T-100 and putting it back into my T54ltwt.

It’s manuverability was better used than than t-100’s speed and both have troll armor.

T54ltwt smashes the tier 10 lights when you ran them.

I do have to shoot more gold compared to T-100 though.

I love the Waffe 7.5 on the VK36.

Yea it doesn’t hit hard but it’s reliable and an Excellent peek a boom gun with good pen.

^This. The Ferdinand is the only mid-tier tech tree tank I'm planning on buying back, and it's one of the most underrated tier VIII tanks (it's also significantly better than the Jagdtiger after it).

The Churchill Gun Carrier is also a very underrated TD that is actually a very powerful sniper/assault gun/ridge-fighter.
